James Bond DB9 Vanquish wall prop

Being a huge fan of the DIE ANOTHER DAY 'Vanish' car (especially the cool armaments), I wanted the grill section that I could put up on my wall. But even at a half scale, the thing would stick out a couple of feet and knock me on the head when I went by. So...

My solution was to make a 2/3 scale replica of the front of the Aston Martin, but squash the persepctive. Even though it is over a metre wide, it is only proud of the wall by 20cm!

Is this a practical solution, or just sacrilege?

So would I ! It's made of wood, fibre glass, plaster, PVC and perspex.

Getting the shape of the headlight cowls took all spring, then my lawnmower fell on it and it took ages to re-do. But this will only be the former, for a fibreglass shell ultimately.

Will post updates.

Managed to source some great lenses to scale and recesssed into the light.

Also painted up the hardware to see what it looks like

Put up on your wall?? That's going to be one cool conversation piece. Please tell me the lights will come on. Love it!

Thanks.
Yes, I have experimented with some LEDs, but because these are real lenses, they turn out just too damm bright!

I'll have to colour filter them, blue or violet unless I want to light up the whole room.

What about useing a filter in the lenses, like real cars have, and maybe ruff it up with sandpaper? just a thought.

Another idea would be a shroud around the led, so less light hits the reflector, this could be hidden behind the filter we talked about ;)

Kudos to a very ambitions project. Can't wait for updates.

A thought... If you put the lights on a stepped dimmer, you could have the license plate rotate to another side per step.

Interesting point.
I know we didn't see the number plates roate, but did Q mention they did as standard in his intro?
I clearly don't know DAD as I thought.
I'll have to investigate.

I decided to spray up the former to show up any defects and areas that still needed work.

I also stuck on some of the greeblies to see what the finished effect will be like, once the mould is taken from this.
(The coke can is for scale)
