Hi all.

just wanted to share progress of my first sculpt this year.

this is a commission for a regular client to be finished in silicone. still a LONG way to go but think the overall shape/form is there, face is still missing something but its very early days.

hope you like it so far

VAry nice Rich, I can see him there for sure. :) I wonder if it's the lack of that smirk he always seems to have that bothers you?

Hi clint.

It's definitly the mouth area that needs the work. I'm purposely avoiding putting a smirk in as its been done very well by Ely already and I want to do something different.

I think I need to put some tension in the lips, you can see the muscles in the brow working but the bottom half of the head looks a bit slack.

I don't think it needs much, just a few little tweaks to tie the top and bottom together

Looks great dude. I see him in there. I think thats a great idea of doing the expression with the eye brows/eyes.

I see a balding Michael Keaton......

The face looks just a wee bit elongated and I agree the mouth needs a little bit of work. I can see it in there but it is still begging to come out.

Cheers, the skinny face is a trick of the camera. All the pics so far are on my phone which distorts. His whole head is wider in reality.

I have been scratching my head about this one as I know he is in there but he is hiding. At the minute, he is like a jonny depp impersonator.

I think I have figured it out, I think the resin eye blanks I used are too big making the eye area look baulbus and flat.

So I had 2 options, first is to just live with it and do the best with what I have or try somehow to get smaller eye forms in there without destroying all the work I have done.

Decided on the latter. The clay I am using is just normal pottery clay and the sculpt is solid and quite firm now so I decided I would cut the face to remove the eyes from the back.

Then put in a slightly smaller eye and put it back together.

Now I can crack on

I have no doubt this will end up a masterpiece like the rest of your sculpts.
I'm watching with envy.

You're inspiring me to break out my dental tools and clay and play! I've got a 25lb block of Marblex that's been sitting in my closet for 3 years and lately, it's been calling my name! Anxious to watch this piece progress!

Looking good. I think it's hard to visualize without the makeup and hair, which is making the likeness tricky for me personally. The eye improvements definitely helped though, and this is loads better than anything I could ever attempt. You're definitely on the right track with this...there's just something that's a little 'off' about it and I'm not sure quite what it is...but that's okay since this is still an amazing WIP! :) Can't wait for more updates.
