This is a quick Halloween build. I watched a couple youtube builds and followed along (DIY Jack Skellington Mask by Justin Built)
I know its been done before and done very well but I wanted a slightly different take.
Most of the builds I have seen have the angry looking mad Jack, I wanted something more lighthearted ,inquisitive and happy.

Here is the paper mache beachball start. It was a 20 inch beach ball

I used a really cheap clay called model magic. Its really light weight but not the greatest for detail
Once it was dry I covered it one last time with the last paper mache layer of paper towels.

That's looking really good.

Thank you

Next steps were:

Cut out the eyes

Coating the inside with a clear epoxy resin to give the paper mache support.

In order to smooth the outside surface i put the beach ball back in after the resin cured and used a dry wall spackling to coat it.
It goes on pink and has a consistency of cake icing. It dries white so its easy to tell when its time to sand.
I did a couple layers (then some spots here and there) on this step. The sanding was easy but really messy.

Primed ,painted , sealed and detailed.

I used a semi gloss white and a matte clear coat

Padded a cheap bike helmet and set it up to Velcro in.

I like happy jack and this captured what I was looking for as close as my limited sculpting skills allowed.

Gotta do some alterations to the suit and make a better/larger bowtie

I got the eyes complete. I made a form in the shape of the eyes out of foam and superglued black hose stretched over it. Then hot glued that to the inside. I can see out decently but light doesn’t get in well

Finishing out the bat bow tie now.

Templated the new Bow tie with some scrap paper. Tried to make it close to the scale in the movie as compared to the shoulders. The one I had was small and floppy due to multiple coat hangers in it.

I made mine from 2 layers of 4 mm foam with lightweight pipe cleaners sandwiches in between.

I formed it the way I wanted , heat sealed then plasti dipped it. Then I burned the lines in and painted them white. The whole thing is light weight and velcroes to the white undershirt.
