I've got the perfect actor for Jor-El in the new Superman

I've seen quotes from a couple different sources saying that this film will not be tied to any earlier film or TV incarnation.

Fusion is correct. It's a (ugggh) "reboot". No one from Singer's version is back. Script (by uber-hack David Goyer) deals with a young Kal-El trying to decide if he even WANTS to be Superman. Good to know they're tying something bold and new - as opposed to something that has been done on TV for a DECADE.

Film's going to be garbage. WB was courting Darren Aronofsky, who said the script needed work. WB said there was no time (because of the impending legal snafu), so they got Zack Snyder - who said he would shoot the script as is.

It's a rush job in order to retain full rights. That sort of thing NEVER turns out well.

Paul Hasenyager for Jor-El (since he isn't going to be Superman)

I also think Terry O'Quinn can pull off evil pretty well. And I'd be more inclined to see a movie with actors I like, so sue me.

That's an amazing thought.

Thanks - and no - baldness has nothing to do with it - you always want to go for someone who invokes age, experience and just all around smart - someone whose voice alone could make you crawl back and think twice and if Lost showed anything it was that Lock was the most interesting character out of all of them and that is thanks to O Quinn and his acting.

You keep a little of that great white hunter attitude, mix it with Luthor and you'll have one hell of a bad guy for the man of steel.

Jeff Bridges.

I know I know. You have seen enough of him lately. But there is a peace and serenity in him. I could believe he is from another world. True, he's no replacement for Brando...

It would have to be a new take on the character somewhat. But I think having him speak to Supes in the recordings with his calm tone would be earily good.

(ducks and hides)
I like it. Bridges also seems like the kind of guy who can trust his own assessment of Krypton despite the ridicule of his peers.
