I'm not sure if this has been posted but man this is a really neat looking Spinner. I wonder if it an original or simply a recast owned by the model maker.

The girl says she was at some presentation where the prop makers were discussion the prodcution. I wonder what the event was?

Recast or original it's pretty neat.

Great. Looks like we didn't get the memo. :(

I just saw that yesterday. she said...

"i got to see a presentation by the visual effects supervisors and artists of blade runner. this is one of the police spinners props "

I have read they had quite a few of different sizes for the tops of the different buildings. It looks too small for the police HQ, but could be from the Tyrell bldg. landing platform. Good to see that some of the stuff from the movies might still be in the hands of the studio archivists. I would hope some of it shows up in a book or an the new 4 disc box set this year.

It's more than 4 disks right now, but that's all I can say as it's not set in stone yet..... ;)

If there's a film that needs a 5 or 6 disc set this is it.

I hope it's not delayed for until the 30th anniversary...

Yup, I know of at least one original tiny spinner sold....measured approx 1":

That very well could be Doug Trumball holding the spinner. He had one at the Seattle Sci-Fi museum last year.

I agree, and Warner Bros. is saying September for the set. I think the official word last was "at least 4 discs"....almost everything about it changes everyday, but I am confidant it will come out. Every day they wait though they lose money.

That model of the spinner from screen used I believe came from the police dept HQ roof. The other one looks unfinished.

That's really cool. Blade Runner is one of my absolute favorites. Do you have any additional photos that show more angles?

Actually, I think that spinner was used in the famous deleted scene where Gaff tunnels under San Angeles to the Tyrell building.

The Spinner can drive, tunnel, fly - it's the sub from Atragon.

But seriously - I've been trying to organize a BR retrospective here in LA for a while now. We've done it before with a variety of films (most recently the STAR WARS screening in conjunction with Lorne Peterson's "Sculpting a Galaxy" booksigning) where we screen the film and have a discussion panel with the FX guys and we display a lot of the photos and props and gadgets and ...... stuff we accumulated over the years. Problem is, Warner Bros. has put a moratorium on all print rentals of BR until further notice. It's been like this since early last year. So, the whole thing has been on hold for a while. I do know that they've sent out video crews to interview some of the FX guys. Obviously, they're keeping their BR 25th plans fairly close to the vest. I suspect we'll see some sort of launch party for the DVD later this year and I wouldn't be surprised if it does some sort of limited release to the art/revival house circuit. (I don't have ANY inside information on this. It's just my speculation. If they haven't thought of this, they can gladly rip off my idea.) We'll see what happens later this year .................

Gene

PS - in the meantime, we are working on some other cool retrospectives for this summer and fall.

yes this waiting thing is like twisting skin....3 disc 4 disc 5 disc more disc....at this point i'd be happy with a hi def copy of any version...
though the idea that they will make this right and have a whole bunch of stuff thats new is definatly worth the wait ...i guess...

The waiting is getting harder and harder. I did just pick up that disc set you told me about Igniters. Thank you again. The guy was really cool and the set is really cool...still ain't enough to hold me untill September though.

You're not far off at all there GK... make sure to wtch your local theater's postings later in the fall.... and I've already said too much....

That smal spinner was used on the roof when they fly over the skyskrapes, see picture 1.
The spinners used on the Tyrell roof where bigger, about 4" (10cm) long, and with alot of more detail...really amazing detail, not like those smal one's, they hardly have any detail at all. see picture 2.
