The latest MR e-mail newsletter noted the 3500 limited edition of the Nautilus is now officially sold out. Ebay prices seem to be hovering at about $ 300 or more. Anyone who has not gotten one should absolutely get it now while they can before the secondary market begins its march upwards.

MR has had some problems recently, but they hit a home run with this replica. This is one that if you have any interest at all in, you should add to your collection. The best replica of the Nautilus ever made.

Anyone know how the prices on the "Exclusive" Disney edition are doing? I imagine they took a hit when the MR version came out, but I'm hoping they start climbing again now that both are sold out.

There were two versions?

The Disney version lit up, but looked a bit odd when not lit, the 'eyes' were a milky blue.

I had that one originally, but sold it when MR announced theirs (it's somewhat larger and has details inside the Wheelhouse).

Here is a pic of the Disney version with the lights on. It's about 22" long, considerably smaller than the MR version, and as mentioned above, none of the "windows" are see through.

The Disney piece is known as the 50th Anniversary piece. It had lights at the bridge and center of the sub. The surface was a rubberized plastic and was of a lower quality material than the MR piece. The sub was more accurarte in some sections and not on others making both versions popular with Nautilus collectors. Some like the 50th anniversary model more than the MR piece, I think for a desk display replica piece, the MR Nautilus beats anything hands down. The Disney piece dropped in value with the MR replica out there although it still is a very collectable replica. I expect both replicas will gain in value over time and be considered the best of what has been made out there.
Icons did make a few of the Nautiluses before they went out of business. But the accuracy of the replicas was not as good as the MR or Disney piece. Still considering how little there are of Disney licensed Nautilus replicas out there, all of them tend to be valued highly by collectors.

Glad I got mine for $186 shipped from the Disney store a few weeks ago. I really pondered picking a a couple more for that price.
