It looks like NECA's 300 props have hit ebay.

I've found the helmet... And now I want one.
Does anyone have some pics of the entire helmet replica?
Thanks :)

I think Leonidas' helm is the only one with the plume.

Which is the one they should be making.

Came across this pic of the actual helmet sold:

Any idea how to add a plume to this to make it look like Leonidas' helmet in this pic?:

Me and Darthgoat and a couple of other guys are planning to do this armor.

I have compiled some pics I have found in the internet.

let the resources commence guys.

We dont have anything yet as far as armor. Only the planning stages and work out schedules.

you could download the images here.

Well my Spartan Helm from Neca arrived this morning. It is definitely a $60 piece that is for certain. It is VERY small. I don't have a particularly large melon and I can barely get this thing on my head. Folks with larger heads will probably not be able to put it on at all.

For a display piece I am not so sure I'd even use it for that. The paint job seems a little dull to me. It is very subdued. Maybe the real helmets were actually like that and the screen caps don't reflect it. I might get some bronze Rub'n'Buff and try to fix it up. I haven't decided yet.

Lets see some pics :)

Pics by request.

It is not that bad for a $60 piece. I have seen many worse things for $60 in my day. A new paint job might change the whole thing. I didn't expect much for $60 so I wasn't incredibly disappointed.

On the bright side, at least Neca didn't fold it.

I was on set for filming and can confirm that the actual "armor" pieces were quite dull and very cheap looking. However they photograph extremely well as can be seen in the trailers. A "good" prop replica that looks like the screen shots would look very little like the actual props so NECA was probably in a bind. Damned if they do and damned if they don't.

well I was not on set...but I did get to handle costume pieces and props from the film. They all have that Miller look. The paint job, while it looks plain, from what I could see...is several different colors on it.

I got my NECA helmet today, and compared with my pics of the Spartan's helmet...the basic shape is off. Its too small, the cheeks flair out too much...its needs a lot of work.

I got the shield as well. That is pretty nice. I will be reworking to to make it not so...damaged.

nice. maybe someone could make a bigger one. but overall it looks nice goat. at least we know what it looks like in 3D

I started working on the clasp for the cape, seem like everyone is a little different. I also got some Monk's cloth and dyed it scarlet it and it looks great.
My camera's down but I'll try and get some pictures up soon.

I'm hoping to do a 300 costume for ComicCon and have been compiling a lot of images of the helmets (the hardest part to recreate).

The NECA version is definately what it is, but the overall shape of the face looks off to me. The gap from the nose to the chin looks to be mostly parallel in the movie versions, while the NECA is very flared. Perhaps a heat gun would work to straighten it out? For $60 it's worth checking out, especially for the bowl section which I really don't want to sculpt.

Also the nose guard in the movies drops below the line of the eye slot, while the NECA version is even (easier to cut with a band saw, I imagine).

Of course, when I compare the time/effort/money to make a proper one...$60 looks pretty good.

Behind the scenes screencaps (Thanks Wacky Chimp for hosting.):

The behind the scenes shots do show how dull the helmets look without all the post-processing.

Of course the hardest part of the costume is getting in to shape, which I started back in November. :lol
