I'm not sure about that one in particular but I have tried a few cheap voice changers and never really thought that much about them. The problem with most of them is that in the factory helmet they are somewhat shielded so protected from feedback and when you bastardize the electronics and stick them in you bucket you get alot of feedback and they don't seem to be very loud.
I have tried many different voice changers like the Hyperdyne, Rom FX and the Voice core from Plecter labs.
I personally like the Rom FX with the Plecter Voice core coming a close second, I found the Hyperdyne a little tricky to configure and I never seemed to eliminate the feedback issue.
The Rom FX unit is super loud and I have never had a feedback problem and they are made here in the UK so cheap postage and great customer service. John is a good guy with a great product. you can find it here: http://www.romfx.com/?tx=7SU13716SP...lxRDEb29JocMRkHMDep+BIV9pXlBuCb9ZPQ120kY2PFI=:love
The same can be said about the Voice core and again the customer service is good that can be found here: http://www.plecterlabs.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=23&osCsid=aee3d17a58077ad4cb0d39952571d77e:thumbsup

After many years in this hobby I have learnt that it is always a good idea to buy the best that you can afford as you will probably only regret it later and end up spending more replacing it later anyway.

I hope this helps.

The pre-recorded clips are fine, but the voice amp is terrible. You have to position the mike really close, and still it's only static and distortion.

Wow, since my name was thrown around here let me rebut. :lol

The rom board is ok but doesnt give the correct voice effect. Neither does the plecter ripoff (the video on that is pretty funny). As for setting ours up, feedback issues are strictly a function of mic and speaker, not our board. So that is an unfair assessment. And if you are having bad feedback, use the PTT function - it is bulletproof.

Then again I am biased, that is no secret. But seeing as I am the original developer of the trooper effect for over 10 yrs, it says something about our quality. If my unit stunk so bad, as you put it, people wouldnt be buying them. It's funny how many UK/Australian guys buy my voice board, when the rom should be more of a bargain for them.

I generally steer clear of threads like this, but I like to keep the record straight. In the end make the decision for yourself. I am always around to answer questions (technical or not).

For the record I was talking about the Clone helmet voice changer, NOT the hyperdyne :)

No, but I was and I apologize if I sounded like I was being too critical. The Hyperdyne is a fantastic unit. I have the first one and I know that there are improvements on later models. I was just saying what I prefer in terms of usability. And as for feedback I do realize that it has something to do with the whole set up and not just the sound board but Rom FX seems to have combated this to work straight out of the box.
Why do you say that Voice core is a rip off? I am no electronic wizard by any means but I just saw it as another choice of unit on the market. I see it as no more a rip off as anything else on the market.
This is just a personal assessment of what units I have tried over the years and what I prefer as a customer. The fact that it is in the UK just meant that postage is cheaper and future service is easier due to the fact that I wouldn't have to send it back over seas should anything go wrong. It wasn't a UK is better verses US comment, and I am sorry if it came across that way.

Your company and products are innovative and very professional and I'm sorry if I sounded otherwise.:)

At the end of the day this is all just my opinion and I was just offering some advice from a customers point of view.
I never said your product stinks?:angel all I said and I quote" it is a little tricky to configure and I have never managed to eliminate the feedback issue".:rolleyes I just found the others easier and I never seemed to get the same feedback as I did with yours. Which would suggest that there is something to do with the board as the set up with the mic and speakers was the same.
I was just offering an unbiased point of view as to what was available and what I have bought and used.

The clone voice changer unit is pretty bad, as has been mentioned the pre-recorded clips are nice but from what I found when I switched mine on was that to get any sort of volume you wind up with awful feedback from being so close to the mic :thumbsup
