Nice work! What's the difference between the Unibeam and Arc Reactor, is it just that one is built in the suit and the other is removable?

From what I read and what I saw on the movies, the arc reactor is the one used by Tony Stark on his chest while the unibeam is the one installed on the Ironman suit (behind it is the arc reactor)... the unibeam (as well as the whole suit) is powered by the arc reactor...

Now what's confusing me is the arc reactor used on MK2 because it also serves as the unibeam (really confusing:wacko)... must be some of the movie inconsistencies that I dont understand...:unsure

LIGHTS ON!!!

I just finished installing the LEDs and run some tests...

It's really tricky... unlike the arc reactor, the unibeam must be lit evenly all through its diffuser ring... there must be no or unnoticeable hot spot...

In the arc reactor, you can hide the hot spot under each of its coil...

Two Light tests were conducted:
1st - just simply light up the unibeam
2nd - the unibeam blast intense light effects
Youtube - UNIBEAM TEST PHASE1 (LIGHT EFFECTS)

Also installed the clear cover...

Lights ON...

The long black casing will be cut to short size as soon as I figured how much space the electronic parts will need...:thumbsup

Unnoticeable hot spot is quite satisfying...thumbsup

Overall result is promising... I'll be tweaking it some more then on to the next phase (sound effects)...

Thanks MB... yes it is from scratch and it is hand-crafted (as all the props that we made)... no CNC machining, nor lathe, and definitely no 3D printing... just pure labor of love...thumbsup

Another small updates

Although the current light effects are quite promising I still felt that the unibeam blast intense light is not enough to be easily noticed...:confused

So today I tried to illuminate the center as additional effects for the unibeam blast...

Now the light is more intense like its really throwing energy blast...:love

Here it closely resembles the reference movie photos on 1st post...:thumbsup

I think it looks much better now and I'm more satisfied...thumbsup

This is the unibeam again at its normal mode (no light at the center similar to the movie design )

I'm still waiting for the sound module to arrive (younger brother is picking it up)...

UPDATES... SOUND EFFECTS ON!!!

So finally, the sound module arrived (bought by my younger brother)...

The unibeam wirings are ready to be hooked up to the sound module so I just connect it right away...:thumbsup

The blasting sounds is the one triggering the blasting lights (not the other way around)... as you can see on below vid:

Very sorry about the poor video quality... I just used my mobile phone to record it... but the sounds you can hear clearly...

Still need to refine the blasting sound and I'll be tweaking the lights a bit more...... getting nearer to its final stage...thumbsup
