so trying to work out sound in boots when walking:

So far adding button switches to bottom of boot one per side.

  • this setup has 5 - WAV. inputs.
  • added a mp3 speaker boosts sound.
  • intergraded a mic as well.

Fantastic work mate. Love it!
I had something like this in mind for mine when its near completion.

Re: Ironman sound walikng in boots

Very clever! I have a suggestion though. Remove the 'clunk' sound from the sound file leaving just the hydraulic whirr. The clunk sound is obviously meant to represent the foot hitting the floor, and if you do not walk in time with this, it will seem very fake. It would be better to (for example) glue a plate of metal or hard plastic, or something like that to the sole of the boot, to replicate the clunk noise in real time. If you havent already, I would also make the switch activate when it is released (push to break) as opposed to making the noise when it first is pushed onto the ground. Otherwise when you stop walking, you will get an extra whirr when youre not going anywhere!

How about two switches? One opens (foot lifts) and makes the whirring sound; the other closes (foot to ground) produces the stomp.

Great idea! I was thinking of adding a piece of metal to the feet to make a 'clunk' sound, but this is way cooler. Excited to see how it turns out!

WOW lol great to see you all enjoyed :).... just beginning stages will adjust accordingly...

You can implament this to elbow movement neck movement and so on..
for now I ll stick to the boot..

I like the thump.. 2 switches not a bad way to go..

Thanks for your input if you come up with any thing feel free to share...

Re: Ironman sound walikng in boots

I was thinking of just finding an App that plays a sound via my IPhone sensing movement hooked to a little rechargeable usb speaker :)

Well done Mockle! It sounds very convincing! Excited to see the final product! If you don't mind me asking, what hardware are you using for this?

I tried looking for one for android, but no dice. There was one for nokia phones a while back, but nothing recent.:facepalm

Good luck on your sale...

these can be made under around 20$ - 30$

If you want all the high tech TheRealStark will be the way to go, check in the Junkyard.

Yeah, I know mine are more expensive, but I'm contending with different designs for different suits. When I was in the planning stages, a number of people mentioned that they didn't want to mod their boots (or simply had boot-covers), so I had limited ways to contain both the hardware, and the mechanism for triggering the sounds. I wish I could get some of the components cheaper, but unfortunately, I can't. Plus, all of my hardware includes lithium polymer batteries and a charger, which gives them super long life, but also ups the cost. It's good for people to have choices though, and yours is definitely a good one! :)

Re: Ironman sound walikng in boots

Its not perfect, but a simple project each can come up with there own way..

I like it and its fun making it..:thumbsup
