IRONMAN Easy Cut FOAM building

I like your material selection. It has advantages over EVA foam in that you can sand it and my EVA will not be able to be sanded. How well does that foam bend with heat? If you are going to make a complete suit and not casts you may need to be careful if you bend to much. Can't wait to see your progresss and completed suit.

looks ridiculously cool, very very nice
i'm always amazed by the talent people present on here, and you're no exception dude :)

loving the work dude. Would you say the foam your using be suitable for maiking Halo Spartan armour? Looking at Noble 6 for my new year project, alot of people using the gym foamlock squares. The foam you are using appears to look easier to work with and maybe lighter? Will have to see if available to buy in UK. Awesome work again dude

Thanks :) The foam i use is really fine to work with. When i finish my costume and deside to wear it, maybe i will only resin the inside. I found a product fiberglass pasta in one cup, so to bring it on it's simple to do.
for you armour if someone attacks..hmm..think you have to using it to :D
I tried the EVE Foam, looks like the same material what we use here in the swimming school floating boards to learn how to swim. It easy to bend, but to cut small pieces it's really hard :O. EVE is strong and you can use rubberpaints, i don't have to :)

Nice to hear :)
Yesterday i was making the forarm, the part i had to bend using heat from my girls blow-dryer was awesome how simple it bends. And yes....to bend the material like 45 degree fast in one time sure it breaks. if you bend it carefully in 30 sec...it stays in his position. Like 50 sec it' turns allmost back in his position.

Updating the forearm. I like the muscular way of the biceps here :lol

Templates would be amazing, bro! Much appreciated! I abandoned a MC foam build after the school year started. May pick it up again if I had good templates. :) Keep up the good work!

Have you tried resin on this material? Polystyrene and resin are not friends.

I too, am waiting to find out how this material reacts to resin, meaning, would it melt? It would be a great source of material to build a model replica out of but to actually wear without it easily cracking while moving is like being incased in egg shells.

BTW Grimmpy, still following your progress. It really looks good :thumbsup

Finally somebody who figured out an alternative to eva foam. I'm from the netherlands too and i want to make Warmachine. Where did you buy this Gamma or Praxis?

This is something i can do!

I would suggest using StyroSpray 1000, like ZacharyHurst did. It is an air dry "plastic" that can be brushed, rolled or sprayed on. leaves a smooth finish that's great for painting. It's what I will be using on my suit.

Hey, loving the work on your IronMan, I managed to find the foam, B&Q sell it, Selitac Aqua Wood Underlay. I'm going to try it for my next Red Hood Version 2 helmet and Noble six, cheers for the inspiration and thinking outside the box. will keep checking for your updates to see your progress.

for the love of god, dont use resin!!!

it will dissolve your awesome work completely

plastidip or elmers glue, or the stuff jowe recommended

Thanks for the tip mate :)
I was testing a proof part with resin and a little bit melting away not the whole way true. But when i try to use epoxy, the result was great. Seems this stuff works OK ! i will search for StyroSpray 1000. Never hear about it :) I will leave the resin part, cause i like the details so far :D

Soon i will update my friends! The month December is really hectic here. hehe
