Ironettes

I'm probably gonna end up doing it, I've loved it since the trailer came out. Probably for NYCC, something new and different for when the bf gets his iron man armor!

Anyone got belt ref images? (It'd be neat to get the lights in the bottoms of the boots, too.)

I'm planning on making an Ironettes costume and wearing it to Dragon Con this year. I've done tons of research on the costume, but I'm always running into the same problem.

How the heck do you put LED's into boots? Still trying to figure out this mystery.

Not sure if I'm allowed to post Amazon links, but these are quite common:

Push LEDs

They have sticky stuff on the back. They stick on pretty well.

I got these shoes for a starting point:

I bought a pair of sticky LED lights already, but from the pictures I can gather the lights seem to go into the base of the shoes. I have no idea how to achieve this without destroying the shoes in the process.

Do you want lights or would high reflective tape work? The other thought I had was finding a pair of those clear soled boots and embedding led lights in to the sole.

where did you come by those boots?

I got them online via Ebay. You can get them at any stripper store online. I love shopping there, because they have all crazy kinds of shoes in almost every color imaginable and they usually have stupid fast shipping. I paid 45$ for mine (Including S+H) EDIT: They are called "Wonder Woman" Pumps. I realized I never answered your question! D:

Apparently I was right...
I found this gallery full of images: http://coedmagazine.com/2010/05/10/ironette-dancers/

Looks like the lights for the hands and chest are those small LEDs.

It may be possible (if you use a fairly thin LED light) to carve a hole into a platform boot and place it in. Some of them are hollow though, so it really depends on the boot and what the platform is made of.

Like I said...
So, noone is checking the links I'm posting these days...:confused

Distinctive Fabric has Metallic Spandex in red and gold. I ordered swatches to see how they look and feel. It's a 4-way stretch which would work really well for this project. May very well be what was actually used.

Here's a link: Distinctive Fabric Metallic Spandex

I hope that link is ok...if not I'm sorry...:)

I got my amazing fabric from over here:

Honestly, I think it might be the same fabric. But it's 1.50$ cheaper a yard!

Apparently...:lol

HEY! If I have this power I can spy the girls in the loc--- Haem, I mean, use it for the good...:angel
:lol

Sorry, Ramiel. I didn't realize you had already posted that linky!

You are probably right, Sacryed. Syfabrics are a good company to buy fabric from as well. I think any metallic spandex will work fine. The colors might be slightly different from place to place, but since we can only go off pictures then it's no big deal. :)
