I've searched and haven't seen it listed, but for those of you who have bought spray touch up automotive paint, how many cans did you buy to finish the red? I was gonna guess but it adds up quickly. I plan on using AX5 to paint my MKIII fyi. Thanks!

I remember when i painted my suit it took ALOT of paint....like maybe a dozen cans. Especially when it's in those duplicolor spray can sizes that are about half the size of a normal spray can.

I would say buy all you can at the store, you can always return what you don't use, but you don't want to have to make a supply run in the middle of painting.

The AX5 I used only came in a 12oz can, and it took two cans to finish the helmet and chest/back. When I get around to the rest of the suit, I'm going to buy quarts and use a spray gun

This is the best option and only way I do my finishing, spray cans are a huge waste of money for the amount you get and the spray our able to achieve. Plus the paint is very low quality compared to the auto grade products.

Good idea. I remember I chose a certain shade of red that all the auto stores had limited supplies of, I ended up buying all the cans in my town and had to drive 30 mins. to a different town to get the last 2 cans to finish my suit haha

It's a good idea, but wait till you look into prices for a quality paint spray gun, and a big air compressor tank to power it. Might not be worth the expense if you're just using it to paint one suit.

I figure I spent 250 bucks on rattle cans for my mark 3. That would get you pretty close to a very basic set up.

Originally I wanted to do the spray gun route, I may have to look into this again... I have an air compressor. Thanks for the replies! I'll post up some pics I'm sure once painting has commenced.
