Iron Man props (helmet - reactor - armor)

Re: Iron Man Helmet Sintra V2.0 (V 1.0 lays in ruins)

Again, very, very impressive! I'm working on something similar at the moment, would you recommend working in this medium over sculpting in clay?
I imagine it being easier for the symmetry but harder overall.

Re: Iron Man Helmet Sintra V2.0 (V 1.0 lays in ruins)

@Ninja: Yeah, exactly. Easier for simmetry, a pain in the a** for everything else.

Actually, I must say, basic structure is probably easier and quicker, especially if you use the template I made. Generally speaking, it's quicker for anything that concerns the structure, any kind. But it's really hard when you have to do details. Even though I'm a freak about details and precision, I can tell you that once you bondo it and you sand it, if you find out, you did something wrong, you can shoot yourself. You need to bondo it again, and again, and again :D

It's really about luck sometimes. And also, you have simmetry issues when bondoing.

It took me for ever to do some things, like one screw of the faceplate...i did it 8 times...just wouldn't sit there...kept popping out...8 times means about 90 minutes...

With clay, it's quicker. You mess up, you wipe it out and put clay over it again. For small details I bet clay is way quicker once you have the proper tools.

@Vader

I wear a 7 3/8 Baseball Hat New Era.
I have hard time to slip it over my head, but I can still make it. My head thogh is not really wide, I'd say long, but thin. So even if you have the same size overall, you might have to cut the back part and work the 3-piece magic to put it on. Once it's on, there's a lot of room. It's just a neck problem ;)

By the way, I just measured my head:
24 inches

Also, I had to put double stratus of sintra inside the neck part, and that's what narrowed it. I guess that, on a cast, with less resin it would fit a 24 without problems.

I hope this ain't infranging rules...

Ok, final pics before Molding which I will try sunday I guess.

It's 6.42 in the morning here...I really did want to finish this :D

So here we go, helmet has minor flaws, but I honestly don't care...we all know what happened last time I wanted to go perfect :D

Wish me luck for the mold guys!
Can't wait to have a cast to paint, throw to the wall, smash with a sledge hammer...you know all that fun stuff people like to do with their props :D

Re: Iron Man Helmet Sintra V2.0 (V 1.0 lays in ruins)

Of all the Iron-Man helmets I have seen this is by far and away my favourite, and I have no idea why! :lol Maybe its because it is so obvious how much work you have put into this, I love its wide, aggressive appearance, cant wait to see the finished result :thumbsup

Re: Iron Man Helmet Sintra V2.0 (V 1.0 lays in ruins)

Going out now to look for red and gold...
I guess I'm going to try for: Pacific Gold and Nissan Merlot Red

Thanks guys, you have no idea how big a boost your words are!

Re: Iron Man Helmet Sintra V2.0 (V 1.0 lays in ruins)

I appreciate that you put the details in the jaw area. I can't say I've seen anyone else do that.

Re: Iron Man Helmet Sintra V2.0 (V 1.0 lays in ruins)

Maybe 'cos when I pull the mold out I'll see the rubber didn't get the details ahahhaha :D
let's hope not :D

Re: Iron Man Helmet Sintra V2.0 (V 1.0 lays in ruins)
