Im just getting into the idea of motorising the faceplate and various other parts on my MK7 build. Its daunting as hell, this tutorial is very helpful indeed. Will be watching this very closely. Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge with us all.
I really like this. Commented on the video that it's great too.
Question though, as I may try to use your method myself; I've figured out all the movements except the small rod. How does that one shift, or does it move at all?

The servo pulls the long rod, which pulls the arm that raises the lid. As the long rod is pulled down it pushes the short rod, which moves the chin section.
Honus, I've always said that your th' top authority when it comes ta using tech /w/ costumes and props. Subbed, you're also willing to help other and share your ideas I'll definitely vote and follow you on instructables brah. Keep up th' good work brah.
Patiently awaiting an update to this awesome thread so i can use this in my new helm, so refreshing to see someone who is willing to share freely. Dont get me wrong i appreciate people need to make a buck or two but it feels like trying to get blood from a stone getting people to share ideas.
Sir... i salute you!
Sorry guys- no update yet. I've been absolutely buried at work so I'm pretty fried by the time I get home- one of the benefits of being a jeweler at Christmas time! I've got something like fifteen custom rings to finish by Christmas... I should start a thread on that stuff.
The owner brought over the gloves and boots last weekend (they look awesome!) so the gauntlet will be done soon. It's going to be awesome. The torso fits the owner perfect so I was able to have him try it on and check clearances for the shoulder rockets and flap servos- and yes it will all fit.
Awesome build and great animatronics tutorial on Instructables. Now I just have to absorb it all, process it, and use the info you have so generously shared!...:lol
This is the only thread for this suit- I'll have another update soon as I've been out in the garage burning the midnight oil working on it. I just got the servos in for the back flaps last week and I should have them completed tonight.
Take it from me guys,Honus is a very busy man. This is only a hobby fo him, not a fulltime job. He also has a wife and 3 sons so working on this project and giving us updates has to wait at times, but its worth it.
Forgot to post pics of what the flaps look like mounted. It takes a while to get them aligned properly. The hinges have a good range of motion- the flaps can extend upward about 45 degrees.
