Iron Man Mk VI for Three Year Old (pic heavy)

Re: Iron Man Mk VI for Three Year Old

Did a lot of sanding and primer work this weekend. Now I'm really under the gun! About have primer on the whole hard suit. Could stand more putty but I'm gonna have to put aside the perfectionist. Here's a sample:

Haven't posted in a while, kinda went dark to finish up, but here's a tease:

Everything is done minus hands and hand plates. Pic dump to come later.

I used Robo's mk vi pepakura files, pepakura is the name of the program. I did have to edit a few files a little bit just to scale in one dimension and for that I used Blender which is an open source 3d modeling program.

A couple of more pics from this weekend, we went to two costume contests this weekend and I have to say we got robbed! The first one was a neighborhood contest, the prize went to a girl dressed as a peacock and there were two honorable mentions that went to others that I can't remember. After the awards, the announcer guy came up to me and asked where I got his costume.

Me: "... I made it, took me 5 months."

Announcer Guy: "Crap. I should have given you the award."

To his credit, he called us up for a third honorable mention and gave my son a prize.

We then went to another contest the next day where the first place went to a baby in a store bought lobster costume in a bucket. Seriously??? (I'm not bitter at all!)

Anywho here are the promised pics:

How am I gonna cram lights and electronics in those tiny circles?

Light comes on when you flip wrist back thanks to a switch. I know the 9V is overkill but that's all I had :) More pics later, going to "Action Hero Night with Captain America" at the local Chick-Fil-A tonight.

Man sorry to hear you guys got robbed out of the forsure win. They must of thought you can just buy that suit off the internet of something. Amazing work and that is an understatement. It's hard to make out but how are the fingers of the glove staying together? Congrats to you and all your great work and to your kid!

It's a 1mm stretchy clear band for jewelry hot glued down the sides. The brand is Stretch Magic. I know some people use fishing line but I wanted it to have some give. Thanks for the kind words!
