Iron man MK 42

This thread will focus on building the iron man MK42 helmet. haven't decided if I should build the costume in its entirety. But definitely on the helmet! I encourage feedback as much as possible. And consider each and every option or opinion. I'm also a beginner so bear with me and we'll see how things go from there! :)

Started on the face plate and filled the seams in with modge podge

Finished with the modge podge, I put 2 layers of primer on and one layer of gold spray paint. 2 coats in certain areas that needed it. Progress on the rest of the helmet will be made soon.

Hi lucious! Love the name btw haha. I use a big foam mat I get from toys r us. It's like a big foam basketball court and could easily make a good 3 or 4 helmets. Then I use plasti primer and then krylon gold paint. I'll definitely check your thread out. Thanks, and happy building!

I will be keeping my eye on this build it looks like it will be amazing as long as you use good patterns
i thought today that i might not do a whole suit but ive changed my mind and do want a full suit
but i got a chest and helmet so far and thought im to far threw to not do a full suit then i remembered
i could do a bust so maybe if you dont want to do a full suit you could do a bust ?

I am actually using the exact file you're using for yours! On pepakura, and I hope it will look really good. I want to make a full suit but haven't decided fully yet. I really want to wear an iron man suit to an upcoming con near my area. I guess it depends how well the helmet turns out. I like the file we both are using because its fairly simple. Where did you find the chest at?

Hi you might not believe this but the chest is easier then the helmet it is quick to build if you have all the templates cut and ready for glue but i am dry out of glue so im waiting for more the files are good and look simple but a pain to size right here is the link good luck with your build

This is as far as I can get today. I'll work on it some more possibly tonight. But today I got the lower jaw and chin attached. Still need to put some mod podge in the seams. Also got the side of the helmet attached, except for some pieces on top or underneath. This is what has been the result

Good work just a peice of advise i don't know how or if you want to get rid of the bottom chin vent seem but i would of advise gluing it inside the chin not out side since it strengthens the chin

looking good tho

That actually is meant to be there I believe. Kinda like a caved in piece. But I'll try the inside glueing method! Thanks!

Not sure if trolling or what when you say you're beginner, but your model is awesome *eyeing on you*
Haha keep up the good work man! Subscribed and waiting for more updates!

Attached lower chin and filled the seams with mod podge. Once that hardens I will paint it to make it smoother, also attached the right hand side part of the helmet and am currently waiting on the rest of it to dry, more later on!

Attached the top part and finished the sides. Not too happy with the final piece on the side so I might redo it. I think the piece will straighten out once the helmet is complete. This will be as far as I go today. Tomorrow will be nearly if not complete on the helmet.
