Iron Man Mark V build (pic heavy)

Hi everyone. I'm pretty new to the whole prop/costume making and I decided I like to give the Mark V a try. I'm in the beginning stages of making some of the first parts. I've been using Fetts templates and then taking them into AutoCAD and designing them there to fit my body size (just wanna say thanks fett for the great templates). I decided to use a green 32 gallon plastic tub for my suit and so far I've bought 2 of them and just got dont using the first one as much as I can. I didn't think I would be able to cut the parts out with a utility knife and so I decided to use our laser engraver at work to cut my pieces out. I went ahead and cut 2 out with the knife just for kicks and as you'll see in the pics below. Thanks for everyone posting up their tutorials and showing everyone else the better ways to do suits. I just wanna put up pictures and maybe a video or 2. Let me all know what you think i could do better and what you like. PM for my facebook cause I do have some more pics on there too! Just curious as to the choice behind using the 'hammered metal' type spraypaint?

Very interested to see how a laser-cut suitcase suit will turn out

Edit: Oh, by the way... one of the best ways to get clean, straight cuts on any kind of material would be to use a METAL straight edge (ruler). Using one of those you can edge your hobby-knife right up to it and get super clean lines without worrying about cutting into your straight-edge. Usually, they'll also have a cork backing so you don't have to worry about it shifting around too much as long as you're applying pressure on top of it.... Available at most art supply or hobby stores

Thanks guys and yeah ill keep pictures posted all the time. Im pretty pumped about the outcome. I guess I went with the hammered metal cause i wanted a different look. and thanks for the tip :]

also a hot knife (basically a soldering iron with an exacto tip) works great too. Cut it like butter!

Hey guys! Sorry its been a while. I actually had stopped with this project due to time and money problems. I may actually start back up on working on this project again. If anyone has and ideas or resources that could be useful to be that would mean a lot!
