Iron Man Mark I Suit

Got my right foot mostly done. These are the boots I am going to wear with this suit since I already had them. Took a couple of pics showing roughly where the knee, shin and calf portion will sit. I just ordered some magnets to connect the upper thigh to the knee.

I also started on the upper thigh of my left leg, but I am not very far along so I didn’t take any pics yet.

Got the upper left thigh mostly done tonight. Still needs some work here and there but it’s coming together.

Got some good work done on my left knee and shin as well as my left boot. Getting close to needing to try and fit some of this stuff together. Also bought some more foam from TNT so I can finish this project and also have some left for other stuff.

Next big thing to work on is the “backpack.” I’ve got a couple things printed for that but I am going to try and make a lot of it out of foam so I can keep the weight down. Then I need to sand and finish all the printed parts so I can start thinking about painting.

Still a lot to do but I am steadily making progress.

Here is some more progress on my left boot as well as some of my “backpack” components. I decided to redo one of the parts because I didn’t like the proportions. Getting close to needing my wife’s help with test fitting the suit and figuring out the knee joints and such.

Was able to connect my left thigh to my left knee and have some movement. I used some magnets on the outside of the knee and a Chicago screw on the inside of the knee. We will see if that holds. I may have to use Chicago screws on both sides.

I'm getting there...=) Need to get right knee hooked up to right thigh and a couple other things and then a test suit up.

I was able to get my right knee connected up to my right thigh as well as make and install the clips to attach the thigh to my pant belt. I ran out of clips so I can’t work on the left thigh until my new clips arrive. Getting close to a preliminary test fit up. Thing are certainly coming together, though I still have a lot to do.

Thank you so much! This build is such a long time coming, but I am glad I finally started it.

I took a short break from the suit to work on my arc reactor. Got the LEDs soldered up and powered and started painting some of the parts.

I need a lot of practice to get better at soldering, but it works...at least for now. I have 11LEDs soldered up in parallel and hooked up to a battery pack of 2 AA batteries. I had a 1/4 watt resistor on it but the lights were very dim so I removed it. We’ll see how long it lasts.

Will need to get some liquid tape to cover all the bare and soldered wire.

Haven’t been able to work on the suit a whole lot lately, but I was able to make some progress on my forearm tank. Not finished, but almost.

I am almost done with my forearm tank. Just need to do some touch up to it and it should be ready to go. Need to paint my forearm so I can install it.

I was able to get a bit of painting done today. Got some primer on the front of my helmet and got two coats of plastidip on my right arm and a coat of carbon black metallic on it as well. Also did a little painting on a part of one of the components for my backpack.

I got some painting work done on the right forearm. I also did a test fit-up of the tank. I think I need to weather the tank more but I am pleased with the progress.

Got some paint on the upper right arm. Things have been moving a bit slower recently. Haven’t had much time to work on the suit, but progress is progress.

Quick update on my backpack. I was able to get a bit of painting done on one of the main components. I am currently working on the bottle but don’t have pics of it yet.
