Iron Man IV (WIP)

This is pretty much my first attempt at creating a suit in general. I would really love positive feed back and any tips that can help me push my suit into a better finish! My suit is not finished in any of the pics.

Please feed back, ideas, tips, comments anything to help a noob like me!

The boot pep in the first pic looks really good, nice job! But did some of the pieces you are wearing in the last pic get damaged? The chest and left thigh look a little crunched. Is part of the cod missing?
It's hard to see, but looking at the pic of your shoulder in the second pic I'd recommend spending some more time getting the filler smooth and sanded before moving on to paint. Extra time spent can really improve a piece.

Yeah it's my first build. I kinda didn't go for perfect look, which I probably should have haha but some pieces did get warped and the pic most of the stuff on was a rough run

Yeah, as the above poster mentioned, don't rush it. You'll be happier with the end results. Also, I think you got the title mixed up. This should be Mark VI

Ha I did I just noticed that! Yeah I probably should have slowed down but could always go back and touch up! Right?

That is the worst attempt at an Iron Man suit i have ever seen!
There are so many threads on this site that helps first time builders.
Do your homework son.

1-Try to make a foam build first, it´s easier and quick.
2-I think the paper u used is too thin and couldn´t hold the shape of the pieces. Before using the suit you have to harden it with resin outside and bondo inside.
3-Look at your bedroom, it is a mess bro. Organize your place of work and it will become easier to do the job.
4-Do not rush to finish.
5-Research, research, research...
GL, i can see you have skills. ;)

I would seriously recommend maybe reverting to a full foam build and rebuilding the pieces you've done in paper in foam. I can see that you've kind of done a hybrid paper/foam build thus far and to be honest your foam parts look like you've got more confidence in using that medium, they actually look pretty damn clean from the pics I've seen, especially your forearms and biceps.

The paper helmet looks like, with some work and the right finishing, it could still be used so I wouldn't give up on that as it looks like the best piece of paper work you've done!

@Giva, what sort of comment is this?

There's constructive criticism and then there's just being plain rude. Rather than just attacking the poor kid why not give him something to work with? I agree that with all the different sources of info out there he has a lot of previous work to go off of, but maybe he got excited and just wanted to start? I don't blame him, and to be honest trial and error is often how we learn.

That being said definitely research and read up on as much as you can Devohter as a lot of the hard work and trial and error has already been done for you by others. Good luck and stick with it mate :).

The biceps are just primered. And I do agree that I believe my paper was too thing.

In all honest its not a build like others on here. Yes I know its rough in many spots. But I just jumped into it learning as i went not really usuing rpf as a website but more to see others work. However I do tend to start from scratch with another suit and really take the time and effort for a good quality build. I want others to know I do know that this isnt on the same level as many other builds here. But I plan to do another suit with what I have learned what to do and not to do. All I ask is that positive feedback be given to me rather than the um, confidence breaker, that was left. Im learning :)

this was kinda of what i ended up with. AGAIN I understand it needed more time on it, but I jumped into it and rushed it. As said before I plan to make another build and give it more time and work. I think personally its not that bad of a build for going in blind!

Wow, you've moved really fast on this! Like you said, it's not perfect, but I'm sure you learned a ton during the build. Plus I'm sure you'll still have one of the most badass costumes for any halloween party you go to.

Glad to hear you are planning to do another suit, and I would agree with the above poster that recommended a foam build. It's definitely the right stuff for someone who wants to see results quickly, but time and effort still can create a spectacular foam suit. There are many examples of great foam builds on the website.

Whatever you choose to use, good luck on it and post your progress! Looking forward to it.

You hit the spot! Its done well enough to "work it" at some costume parties. And learned ALOT doing this, I like the cardstock route a little more than the foam (personal preference) I used the foam to kind of tighten the space to fit my body with the pieces. Defiantly doing an other suit probably after halloween!
