Hello everyone,
I recently bought my first 3D Printer and now started a small project. I’ll post updates now and then and we’ll see how it goes :)

I needed to reprint the hand, size was off. Now I modified the file to fit a hinge. I modeled the hinge in Fusion360 and it fits perfectly. For the rod I took a standard needle and melted the top.

Looks great, good work with the hinge. What 3D Printer did you go for if you don't mind me asking?

Just from the logo in the pictures I can tell it's an Artillery 3D printer, but I don't know if he went with the Sidewinder X1 (300x300x400mm) or the Genius (220x220x250mm).

I just got the Sidewinder X1 for myself (found it on sale at Gearbest for $380), and considering my printer before this was the Monoprice Select Mini (120x120x120mm) it's a massive printer! It's also super quiet, to the point where you can't tell if it's finished or not by just listening. For something that'll be printing almost non-stop like a suit I'm glad that it's so quiet, it means I can run it without it being a nuisance to the whole family.

I started grinding lately. Huh PLA is harder to grind than I thought.
I also cut away the finger gaps since I’m aiming for more comfort.

1. 80 grid Sandpaper
2. 120 grid Sandpaper
3. Next... first SprayFiller

Today I sanded the rest of the fingers.
Since sanding by hand is so much work, I decided to test some power tools. Unfortunately ABS melts pretty quickly so I needed to find a good compromise between speed and sandpaper grid.

1. My belt/disc sander has just one speed I/0 and that was too fast and the ABS melted.

2. My sheet sander is way to large and the wobble makes it almost impossible to hold anything against it

3. I was successful with a Dremel 4000 set to 11 and 120 grid sandpaper:

After that, I quickly sanded it with a 220 grid sandpaper by hand

I then cleaned everything in water

...and fixed the pieces with some duct tape on large toothpicks

Some more sanding and a second coat:

For the best effect, I always paint my parts silver first. That way the red and gold have a much better metal look later.

So that was a successful day:

1. I sanded the fingertips with 400 grid paper before applying the first coat of Silver

2. Now I recognized that I missed some detail... I should have printed detail lines for the finger joints... so now I had to add them manually with a file:

3. after fixing some errors I decided I can apply some color :)

The red is Multona 0412

Some progress:

1. I superglued a fishing line to the finger

But it didn’t work as expected so I switched to plan B.

I don’t like the shiny look so I used steel wool to make it more dull:

Just like my mk3 helmet:

Glued in the hinge and connected the rest

Now I only need a better glove :)

Do you still have the files for the hand and hinge? I really like how you separated the top of the hand and the hinge would make it alot easier to use.

I am also looking for a ribbed texture glove like that for my gauntlet build if anyone has a resource to share.
