Iron Man concept: the MK45. A community effort.

Dear Iron Man enthusiasts! I've been looking at some Iron Man 3 concept art and I was thinking to myself: A lot of great ideas in this… some even better than the actual suit in the movie. It would be awesome to make an original helmet. As a starting point I used the MK42 file made by Gimpee

So i started to put some ideas together. I came up with this:

it is a WIP of course. I haven't had a good idea for the "teeth" section yet. I'm not sure about detail lines on the faceplate either. The ear needs some air intakes or something like that. I'm not sure if I like the overall shape either.​

I'm not really satisfied with it and I thought: why do this alone when it could be a community effort.

So what I like you to do is throw some ideas at me, post pictures of what you like and so on. Let's try to make an RPF-Man Helmet

I like this one very much. I have looked at a ton of pics for concept art to get inspired for an original bucket. I come to the reality that i am looking for something that is already there. So starting from scratch i started on a new helm based on Zabana's awesome War-Machine. Removing almost all the character details that make stand out from the rest, i had to keep the mohawk. Sorry folks i had 2 in the 80's can't resist. So i expanded my search from concept ironman to everything tech. Cars, weapons, motorcycles, gadgets ect. I look at there function, i look at tweaking here and there. My thread is on a creative hold until the whole thing is done. Then i will begin posting pics. Some idea's have come to me while i'm sleeping lol. But try to look at everything from a design aspect. I have found it's helped me a great deal. You have a pic of my helm, feel free to use some idea's off that if you like. Tweak away man. I will send pics your way though as they come...GM

Like opening sideways with a split in the middle? BeforeI saw the movie I thought the Iron Patriot would have a split Faceplate because of the detail lines. A nice idea though. Is that what you mean?

I'm having trouble with my phone it won't allow me to download any pics. As for the face plate, yes but in a way that it does'nt look like crap. Working on some drawings right now, if i come up with something you'll be the second to know...GM

If you're looking for a faceplate that opens up from the middle, you might want to take a look at the Extremis faceplate mechanism found in Iron Man: Armored Adventures Season 2. Here is a gif:

I've been searching for retractable tech. Telescopic tech. What if your helmet was larger and instead of the face plate retracting to the outside, it would be inside. Hmmmm, Until then we could always dream...GM
