Iron Man - Cod Help Please?

So I'm stuck on Iron Man's foam Cod piece. I've made 3 attempts, so at this point I'm wasting materials and time.

I'm 6' 1" tall with a 33 inch waist. Could some flatten-out the Cod piece so basically I could make it from an altered ring? I'm sure it can somehow start with a cylinder, and then you just make angled cuts to give it the needed effect. Help is needed and appreciated!

Some pictures on what you did might help.

I am not sure if I got your idea right.
The cod is actualy have different waist and hips diameter, so starting with cylinder might not be a good start

Well, I can't do pics because I already destroyed the parts I had made. Made me feel better. My templates are too small, scaling doesn't work right because my printer messes them up. So I need a basic shape to start with. Like if you took a completed cod piece and sliced it down the side so you could lay it flat.

Are you using robo's pattern. If you reference pictures via google of Ironmans butt you will find those ate not movie accurate however the actual crotch covering with some minor mods will work but to be accurate after that it's all custom use the PDF as as basic shape.

Please check, did you scale it on the base of your waist or hip?
Because if you use waist line, it'll be too small. Use hip, add say about 5-7cm (that's around 2-3 inches).
I ended up having the cod too small too, but I added extra foam piece at the back to make it wider.
Lying flat like that won't do the trick. The key here is the same, waist and hip is two different length.
If your printer messes up your scaling, you need to fix that, otherwise you can't do the rest of the parts properly.

Is there a link to Robo's PDF?

Nobody should be concerned of building a 100% accurate foam suit, when you're not even using the correct/movie accurate material to start with.

The other comments are appreciated, but honestly telling me to fix my printer is of no help... Any body part can be laid flat, especially one that goes around your waist, where then you can start to alter it.

Alright, I'm going to give try #4 a shot! Mod, please delete this thread as I'm done being frustrated, as I have some caffeine to help now :)

I have found an easy and quick way to alter the Cod And Ab pieces. I know the files are small but all you have to is alter the Back spine piece and make wider and the piece bellow that between the cheeks of your back side wider and that is that in a nut shell. I have pics of the first attempt and second attempt. I am new to this Forum and this is my first post. I am also selling the ABS and Cod pieces. But I have to wait 45 Days before I can sell on this. If you want pics and Ideas give me a Shout

i had a similar problem but rather then latering the back i cut down the part between your legs extended that the added to the curve at the front to make it bend better around the hips will post pictures once its complet only done one side
