Iron Man Battle Damage/Wear and Tear Question

Building a foam iron man armor currently, and was wondering about adding the weathering to the suit. Can I give it its normal coats of primer and paint and such first and then apply the weathering later on or is that going to be bad for the suit?

If you are doing just paint weathering like washes and dry brushing then, yes, paint as normal. If you are going to physically damage the foam by making holes and tears, you should do that before painting. A hot knife or soldering iron works well for doing physical damage. Good Luck!
