Interest: Bags with blaster motives!

Saw this, and thought of doing the same thing with blaster props perhaps. Imagine an E-11 and the RPF logo at the bottom. But would anybody actually need a plastic bag with an E-11? Could be done with most types of handguns actually.

Re: Suggestion: Plastic bags, with a prop twist

I work for a marketing firm in Boston, so I see ideas all of the time. That's one of the most clever designs I've seen in a while!

Of course, blasters would be better, haha

Man, you couldn't pay me to carry that in public. All you need is one near sighted cop and blammo :lol

Or it's the perfect cover to actually carry a real gun cunningly concealed on the outside of a carrier bag!!!

Like I said, its only a suggestion. The junkyard may be the wrong place to have posted it. I will ask that it'll be moved.

That is so cool. I would love to have a brown bag, with Mals pistol from firefly on it. I could use it to cairy my stuff in, at cons when I'm in my new Mal costume I'm working on. :)

Don't get me wrong. I think it's great. I just wouldn't carry one around. Too many trigger happy people around nowadays...

Rather than plastic, it seems like you could do these in canvas and silkscreen them.

Could be done with any number of things that dosn't look like a gun. How about the Predator cutting disc thingy... ?

Or a lightsaber hilt. Either across the top so it looks like your holding it, or hanging down like it's clipped on.

Re: Suggestion: Plastic bags, with a prop twist

If you want somthing hanging down the side it could be Han Solo's blaster and holster. Part of the stripes on the pants. On a different kind of bag, like this

Could be done for a number of characters with any kind of sidearm or lightsaber on the hip/thigh. As long as the whole weapon can fit onto a bag. Perhaps in the DJ vinyl record carrying bag style.

Re: Suggestion: Plastic bags, with a prop twist

You really should bring some of these ideas to people like those that plan Celebration, and other big cons. I mean, they almost always give out grab bags when you pick up your tickets. and this kind of thing would be outstanding for a con. You could have a line of them. You know "collect them all. You could do it like drugs, or cards, People get on for free with the admission, but it they want the rest they either have to buy them, or trade for them.

Heck if I was currently on any con comities, I would approve something like this right away.

And it would be fun to market them too. This really is a great idea.

It could work for toy stores, and stuff too, but with a con, every one is alread walking around with guns, holsters, and whatnot, so it's less likely a cop is going to get trigger happy, but on the street, they might get a bit techy, depending on witch bag it was.

If you need any help I'm a photographer, and I love doing this kind of work.

Re: Suggestion: Plastic bags, with a prop twist

I was actually thinking of drawing them in illustrator to get at nice clean finish on them (whatever "they" may be). I have done some research into drawing objects in 3d in illustartor. The first experiment came out alright I think.

Re: Suggestion: Plastic bags, with a prop twist

OO! That's very nice, and I was just thinking that drawn would be better.

Would there be any genenrel interest in these? I don't think its possible to do a small number of them.

Does any body have access to printing facilities that could handle this. I can make the artwork, just not the printing.

I guees the lack of replies, suggests that the interest in these, are very limited.

Not necessarily, it really can come down to context, and targeting the right client.

If you ask me, a guy setting at home, on his computer "Hey do you want to buy tons of these really cool looking plastic, or paper bags?" I'm goint to say "Do what now? Their really cool, but what am I going to do with them?"

On the other hand, if you take the idea to, say, the people who plan conventions, and say "Hey do you want to buy tons of these really cool looking plastic, or paper bags?" They May very well say yes.

There were over 76,000 people at Celebertion II. :) If you don't want to market to them directly, try thier sponsors. Or how about some place like MR. They lost the Star Wars rights, but There are those that are picking them up. If you work with them, they could more easly get the rights to print such a thing. I know they may not be willing to send one out with there mail order stuff, but you know they set up at all sorts of conventions, and other places, and you know they could use something like this. I mean, think about it, lets say it is MR, for say Star Trek bags, Ok, a person walks up to there table at a con, they walk away with either a cool prop, or freebies, or whatever, in one of your bags. It's great for you, and for them, because it ketches peoples eys, so it's great marketing, and it's great for the fans, because....... wel.... there just really cool. :)

I would make some art up, start taking to people you can trust aren't going to steel the idea, and together take it to the possible buyers. It's a little tricky, because you can't copy right Star Wars stuff, without there rights, but on the other hand , you really don't want to put it out there without having it protected a little, but I don't know that there's much you can do about that.

There is a thing called a "Poor man's copy right." (or pattend) You print the ideas out on paper, or I guess a disk, or something would do. Then you put it in a package, and mail it to yourself. When it comes, you DO NOT OPEN IT, and you set it a side. Then if someone steels your idea, you have a package with your idea in it, that has a clear, legal, Dated, Post mark, that pre-dates the thieves usage of said idea. It's a little week, but at least it's something. (and it's a really cheep way to kind of protect your idea, but if you think you may need to do it more then once, go ahead and send more then one of these packages to yourself.) Just a thought.
