Hey Scott, just an honest curious question, why would wood grip add to the cost compared to the plastic ones? Chris CNC won't work with wood or is it just the cost of the material? cost of the material seems very unlickly, wood is not that expensive. I'm talking about raw CNC cut wood grips of course, if you need to finish them all by hand, it's obvious it would add to the cost.

I get that it may add to the cost. But, compared to the EXCELLENT machining on all that steel, the grips seem to be a very simple piece of the puzzle. Honestly, walnut might be a cheaper material than what was used (some type of plastic?). Walnut is something like $7 a board foot, you could probably machine 5+ sets of grips from a board foot of material. Chris, please don't take my posts as unappreciative or in any way negative to this amazing piece of machining. Just constructive critique on what I think could be improved upon to make something truly epic.

The wood grips will be a option soon and will cost more .... these so called disappointing versions were made from scanning my real grips and making a mold similar to how royal wood polymer grip are made for real firearms ......I could have out this out with no grip ??????????? the walnut hand made version will be out soon and will be a upgrade... But i did need a cheaper version to get started and getting hand made grip is not a fast process... All Mauser grips do not fit all Mauser BTY im sure some of you know this
................. ill be offering two version in walnut one hero and the stembridge grip...
Sorry for disappointing you.. the steel parts were my first concern....................... this is a on going project and i plan to keep making these for the future................. try to have fun with the ongoing evolution of the project and im sure there will be some grip available soon for all those who want them ........

LOL EASY ha........................ Anytime someone says that my first response is ill buy all the easy you can make !!!!!! Nothing about this was easy... that why not a single machinist you know since this need or want has popped up did it !! the grips are no exception doing them right takes alot of hand work.. like Scott said $100 grips. machine the correct profile of the grip is not as simple as it wood seem.. dec has made grip in the past by turning them but they were not totally correct and required extra shaping ... the real grip on the vintage guns were hand made .... 7$ material make the project sound cheap until fixtures, tooling ,programming, sanding , machine the Escutcheon screws . Ebay has some Pakistan grips you get and modify...........LOL Trying not to take offense,,, but this kit should be 2000$$$ I have seen many runs of blaster parts and full builds done very badly and cost more...

You say it a constructive critique OK then i should have left the basic (FREE ) grips off and wait for the wood ones ?????? LMAO
Sometime i think i make this look too easy and the complexly is diminished....

Possible and is underway.......................... BTW everyone keep telling me how cheap wood is... the grip wood requires proper grain, and there is alot of waste... If this was simple there would be a ton of them already..... Real grip require hand sanding and shaping ., cnc can only do so much ... you guy have been bitching about denix for 20 years.. if this was simple it would not be a on going concern......... but dont panic !!!!!!!!! ill freaking have some soon .................................................. Dec may even do some who knows

Woohoo!!! And please consider doing a non-step frame Stembridge version at some point... you know, during your "down time" when you're not slaving away machining all these cool replica blaster parts for us! ;)

And, as said, those steel parts look SO good! It is an incredible feat of machining and an amazing addition to the SW prop building world. Truly like nothing else available.

'Disappointed' may have been the wrong choice of word. I look forward to seeing the wood grips.

I was really not trying to diminish your huge acomplishment. The Gun is awesome and I'm super sad I cannot get one because of my current personall situation. This was something I was looking forward to, believe me.
I was just honestly curious about why it would cost a 100$ to do wood grips and I made sure to precise that I was talking about rough CNC machined grips without hand cleaning. This could be a solution for a kit where people can hand finish them themselves.

It really is quite frankly, a stunning achievement in prop-oriented fandom in my opinion. I can't imagine many are left for sale! Now we just need to get to work on an all-steel Deckard's Blaster laser scanned from the original component guns! :p
