Inkjet printable waterslide decal paper? Too good to be true?

I have found on the web a product that says you can print your decals from an inkjet printer onto waterslide printable paper.

I have an inkjet printer and want to make some custom trek starship registration decals. Water and inkjet printed materials have always been a messy no-no for me; can anyone confirm that this product works?

Also if it does work, how does it stand up to a coat of Testors matte clear coat?

Is this a new product or is it the old inkjet water slide decal paper ?
If so you still have to put a clear coat to protect it from water...

I am sorry, but never having done this before, I don't know new from old.

Here's one I found with a quick search:

It looks like hey sell the printable paper and a decal coating. I assume one would print off thier decal then apply the decal coating then do the standard soak and apply waterslide decal mounting?

I use the Testors version with the clear coat applied after printing. As long as you get your print settings right, it works great.

Thanks all.

Lemme' get this strait. So if you get the right paper, you can print your decals up on an inkjet, then spray the decal sheet with a testors clear coat, then waterslide them onto your model?

Sulla, there are multiple sites selling this stuff and they come out alright. As mentioned use a clear coat ( most sites recomend an acrylic coat - Krylon Clear coat comes to mind). Just follow the instructions and there shouldn't be a problem.

I used these to make this:

And as long as you use a clear-coat before you put them in water they will work perfect!!

That is a fantastic keyboard.
And thanks a million for all your help everyone! I love this community forum.
