Indy Jacket

INDY

After watching this new video clip, It says that Steve and Marc did the fedora and a guy by the name on Tony Novak did the jacket. Does anybody have any info on the jacket maker? If you don't want to post the info, you can pm me

Thanks, Dave

Hi Dave,

It's Tony NOWAK. Here's a link to his website:
http://www.tonynowak.com/

However, you won't find the Indy 4 jacket on there because I don't think he's going to be offering them until after the movie has opened.

So, does anyone know why they didn't go with Wested again? I'm by no means an Indy expert, but I seem to remember that the original films were all with Wested, right?

The actual reasons have not been disclosed apart from saying that Wested WERE given the opportunity to make a jacket but for reasons known mainly to Bernie Pollack (the costume designer for Indy 4), the chose Tony Nowak's version instead. Apparently Nowak's jacket fixed problems with the collar amongst other things. Having seen photos of Wested's prototype that they submitted, I have to say that I can't see any difference between theirs and Tony Nowak's!

LoL.. man i just read that thread over at COW over the jacket. What a bunch of nut bags. I love indy and his gear, but that board is run more like the nazi's than indiana jones.

BTW the new jacket looks like ass from the still shots, nothing compares to the original raiders jacket.

You're on the RPF and you call COW nutbags? Now that's calling the kettle black.

OBTW, just so you know alot of the guys are members here as well dude.

Yes, they are truly crazy for detail and I would say, yes, nutbags too. But that's the reason I LOVE that board is because its one of the few prop/costume islands left dedicated to the art research. On top of all that, it still remains one of the warmest communities I have ever had the pleasure a being part of.

COW is one of the friendliest communities on the net.

Nazis???

If you mean we are very topic specific over there, like to keep threads on track so COW remains a great source of information for all things Indy...then yeah, I guess you could say we run a tight ship.

I resent the Nazi comment though. Uncalled for, dude - and far from the truth.

From what I've heard, Bernie Pollack likes to keep his vendors close as possible. Nowak is in L.A., so it was easy and fast to relay what was wanted, and turnaround time was a factor. Also, the time difference for speaking on the phone. Also the reason he spoke with Steve Delk (AB)regularly, as opposed to Mark Kitter(ABeluxe), because of the time difference.
He didn't want to wake Marc in the middle of the night, to go over little details. For the record, Steve Delk, AND Marc Kitter made the hats for "The Crystal Skull" film.

I am or at least was a member of club obi wan. I had not been on in a while since I finished my Indy costume a couple of years ago. But with the new movie, and with this new video clip and the fact that I just ordered a hat from AB, I went over COW and someone else now has BOARD NAME. I went to re-register and there is a part about an archelogical dig that you have to submit when you register, What the heck is that all about? I'm not picking on it, I just don't now what they mean! If any one knows what they are talking about, please reply or pm me! I also have another INDY related question, What did they use for shoes for this 4th film?

Not sure about what rules they have now to get into the site, but as far as the shoes, they used Aldens again. The classic 405 "Indy" boot.

Kinda OT bit all of the variations of the indy stuff is just crazy and very intimidating to a noobish fan and even moreso when most of it boils down to 'tailoring' issues. I first thought 'gosh how hard could it be to get an accurate hat/jacket/whip ?'. Very, and WAAAY more expensive than i thought it would be...

hats-300 ish, Herb J but everyone appears to hate those now , and even more confusing to think most hats need to be bashed by the buyer
<new kotcs ABs arent available yet>

jackets-wested $400 ish and UK, but numerous 'alt' jackets and manufacturers exist (some more expensive even)
<new kotcs nowaks arent available yet-but ive heard more pricey>

whips- forget it Morgans like $900 ish
<new kotcs strains arent available yet-but almost as pricey>

...it doesnt help that most of these are uk/eu manufactured as US folks get added cost getting them as well

I see what you guys are saying, lemme clarify.. what I meant was the admins/mods of COW act like Nazi's. The featured link in this thread to the "jacket" thread over there is pretty telling of the overall feel of how that place is run. I have been a member there for years and have seen/read more :rolleyes type comments from the admins than I can remember.

Nothing uncommon, tons of boards are run by the same type of people. Control freaks who know everything already and like to let everyone know they know, so don't disagree with them or you get banned, locked or deleted.

Just my personal opinion, its their board they can run it how they want and obviously it doesn't bother most people, but it does me so I choose to not go there. Plenty of of other places to freely discuss things and not get bashed.

Yeah Indy Gear CAN be intimidating for getting accurate stuff but very satisfying when you CAN get it. I probably will never get a Morgan whip seeing he's way overpriced but there are alot of equally talented folks out there. Lots of choices as far was what price range you'd like to get.
Adventurebilt hats ARE top-notch and the Indy 4 hat but there are others a little less expensive and although not AS high quality but still very well made and not bad at all.

As for joining I'm sure if you contacted the mods and mentioned you USED to be a member they can help you out. I've ALWAYS had nothing but warm welcomes to everyone there and lots of friendly folks to boot. Great place to get any and all info. about Indiana Jones related things. Can't wait for May to come myself. ;)

Hey Bleyd, Thanks, I just registered under a new name! But I have not got confirmation yet!

Thanks, Dave

I noticed that Belstaff are offering an Indy 4 jacket. No idea if they supplied any jackets to the movie though, or if they're just licensed replicas. Whatever the case, I'm sure they'll probably retail for around £800.
