Hi folks-
If you saw my introductory post, you might have caught that it has been my ambition to join the 501st as a Sovereign Protector for some time. After researching options, I've decided that I would like to try my hand at pepakura, since I have a rather large head, and most helmets don't fit. However I'm not confident enough with the technique right now to make something up to 501st standards, so I'd like some recommendations as to who might have decent kits/completed helmets for someone with an XL dome.:cry, I'd like to get started with the 501st while working on my own helmet, and it'd be handy to have around as a reference.
I would prefer fiberglass.
I'm asking here because I don't want to buy from a recaster, or support that kind of ripoff of artistry.
A search on EBAY reveals several auctions:
gordyfett (from the UK)
fenixprops (my current favorite, since "he" sells helmets with extra room, but no visor, and unpainted)
nexus_enterprising (known recaster, so no go) :thumbsdown
Rubies
and a guy in Venuzuela, but I can't locate any of his helmets at this time.
If anyone has any recommendations or otherwise, I'd appreciate the heads up, especially if it's state-side. I might also be interested in commissioning a senate guard helmet ala TPM complete with horsehair manes, as that is the next project.
