I just saw your post above mine, did you go to the Aviation planetatium?
In Nasau county? What a jip right??
Wheres the good IMAX you went to on long island?
Or are you talking about the IMAX near you now in Colorodo?
I left long island behind i grew up in suffolk county, what hell hole.
I went to the stony brook loews one and was underwhelmed bigtime.
I'm in LA, i want to see the legit IMAX
I like that when I pay extra to see something in IMAX, I don't have to worry about hearing the chatter of those around me.
Yup, the Cradle of Aviation museum (I think that was the official name). It wasn't an awful experience, but it left a lot to be desired. The screen's closeness was a bigger issue than any other complaint.
The IMAX I mentioned liking is the one here in Colorado Springs. IMAX is a legitimately awesome experience when done well, and Nolan does it well. It was much more enjoyable to see TDKR in a proper IMAX theater, as opposed to the Aviation museum.
But the Westbury 12 added an IMAX screen at some point in the past few years. That was the theater I usually used when on LI, although pre-having IMAX.
I went back to LI this week, actually, after not being there for over two years. It just gets worse. Overpriced is one thing, but overpaying for an area that is rapidly devolving? No thanks. It's a shame to leave friends behind, but you've got to move forward.
Irvine Spectrum.
There was one huge theater in Nassau that used to have an I-Hop near it.
I saw the first pirates of the carribean there, i was soo baffled at how huge the theater and screen was! I never found that theater again. It was Awesome seeing it there.
I know just what you mean / :
I lived in suffolk county, lake grove, selden, saint james, stony brook. Then to Nassau, wantagh back to sulfolk stony brook, lake grove, holbrook. Then to Nassau again Long Beach.
I liked Nassau better but long island is an awful place.
I just never fit in there at all.
Im happy to be away from it and the way people think and act there.
How are you liking Colorodo? Ive never been there.
Im in los angeles now, the economy here is awful.
I like how people are very laid back and arent so close minded.
But i still dont feel its a place for me.
Everyones here for shallow reasons.
Unfortunately, "near an IHOP" doesn't narrow it down much on LI. :lol
You hopped around more than me. With my family, I lived in Merrick and Baldwin, then moved to Carle Place with my wife. It's a shame, because I loved growing up on LI, but the quality just went downhill while the prices went up. But what I remember as "Long Island", in the good way, isn't something that will happen again. You'll never see anything like Nunley's ever again (and the refurbished carousel doesn't count).
I've been liking Colorado. I'm in Colorado Springs, which is almost like a newer Long Island. It's got stores when you want stores, it's got nature when you want nature. Everything feels close without feeling close.
Yeah, LI to LA is a rough move, CA is probably the one state worse off than NY, financially. But even if you're not there permanently, it's still an experience just to live in another place.
What year did you graduate? I was in Sachem then, Wardmelvile in east setauket.
