IM Mk3 Plastic Coated Foam (WIP) update pg 10

Re: IM Mk3 Plastic Coated Foam (WIP) (Pic Heavy)

Hi!
I tried the smooth material, but I had 2 problems...

one is that it was easy to peel... I does not stick to the foam, it only covers it...
Other "maybe" was my fault..I had very bad finish... the layer did not dried fine and was all like "waves".. and not smooth at all... this polyflo is like this?? i see your finish is incredible, but I dont know if its the polyflo or your skills....

regards!

Excellent build. The only thing I see everyone do that I may do differently is seperate the back piece. I was thinking of also having a movable jaw like the film. So was considering seperating that piece instead....

Hi mate, did you seal the foam first?? Also the trick to getting it on even is to work quickly and not be tempted to use any resin which is going off.

Id like to have the pivoying jaw but I think it might be a struggle with a foam lid.

Thanks mate, don't wanna run into each other either.......might damage the suits;)

This is amazing, where did you get the foam from? Specific style? Sorry if you mention this already, maybe didnt understand it's name.

Re: IM Mk3 Plastic Coated Foam (WIP) (Pic Heavy)

I don't know how this one slipped past me... Insanely clean work!!!! And I'm so happy to finally see someone use the correct red for a MKIII. :D

Ok, just to prove I've not been sitting on my hands here's a couple of pics of the bits & pieces I've been playing with.
Firstly got one of the shoulder bells complete & the inner & outer swivel for better articulation.

Also been playing with the lid....still needs loads of work and its a very snug fit but going to plod on with it in the hope I can get it 90% as good as the very best resin helmets. If not ill have to splash the cash:facepalm

And lastly been fiddling with my arc reactor/unibeam, not 100% screen accurate but not bad for a few odds&sods I had kicking about.

Re: IM Mk3 Plastic Coated Foam (WIP) (Pic Heavy) update 7/4

Looking sweet bro! I see you have taking the route I was thinking of doing for my pads. I was watching the movie the other day and noticed that as he lifts his arms the pads are 2 seperate pieces but no one ever seems to make them that way.
I was wondering will/could you do a video on coating the foam as other than Xrobots brief vid I think we need one from the master. If your not one for doing video tutorials then could we at least get a writen tutorial so those of us that are going to attempt plastic coating will know what we are doing.

Re: IM Mk3 Plastic Coated Foam (WIP) (Pic Heavy) update 7/4

Oh and also how much of the resin do you think you would need to do the whole suit ?

Re: IM Mk3 Plastic Coated Foam (WIP) (Pic Heavy) update 7/4

Looking amazing, such a great foam build!

Out of interest, how much LD45 did you use for the entire suit?

Re: IM Mk3 Plastic Coated Foam (WIP) (Pic Heavy) update 7/4

Also, what was the exact colour / finish for the U-Pol power can? I've got the Grip #4, just trying to work out which Power Can you used.
