If they reboot INDIANA JONES, who would you pick to play Indy?

I guess I kind of saw this coming. Sure they might make a good, fun adventure movie.. or it might suck. Either way it won't be Indiana Jones to me.

I don't really agree with the Bond comparisons.. Bond set itself up for new actors kind of early seeing as how there has been a new film almost every year, and with Lazenby only doing one followed by one more with Connery. It just doesn't really seem the same for me with IJ

It will take two things for me to see a Fordless Indy.
1. A return to the serious tone of Raiders.
2. Indy gets hurt and feels it. He's not Iron Man.

I'd be fine with Flannigan or Hugh jackman, but Bradley Cooper would get my vote.

edit: my bad, didn't see the Chris Pratt post. I like him, but still think Cooper would do it better.

Frankly, they need to leave the Indiana Jones franchise alone and come up with some fresh ideas.

Exactly. Hollywood reboots enough franchises, they need to stop remaking the past and do something worthwhile for the future.

Too old. Either have Indy in the 50's / 60's and have Harrison OR go with someone fairly unknown like Anthony Ingruber.
There are enough actors out there not to have Van Helsing, Wolverine as Indiana Jones.

I can live with this. I like the above idea of pre-TOD though, maintaining continuity, and not rebooting. Pratt is the best choice I've heard floated, and certainly better than oh god no please no Shia.

Whoever they cast the movie will never be Raiders, hell it probably won't even be Temple of Doom or the good parts of Last Crusade. I'm thinking way better than Crystal Skull but that's still not saying much.

Well, you have to get writers and directors that "get it" and that means understanding that the first time we see Indy is he is literally walking out of the shadows.
He steals artifacts that belong to other nations for money, damages precious archeological sites, had sex with Marion when she was underage, drinks hard and was ready to go to hell with Belloq, he leads this dual life and he is payed well for his unique abilities. Selfish, he left Marion tied up to get the Ark, and there was no rush to dig that ark up. He couldn't contain his
lust for that glory. Competes with other tomb raiders that is clear too. He exists in two worlds with the professor act.
All that is of course the Raiders version of Indy. He wasn't the same in the other films.

My biggest concern is that Disney simply isn't capable of allowing a return to the shadows where the character thrives and would
play it safe with a nice PG rated adventure for the kiddies and get a new ride at Disneyland going.

I don't see Cooper as Indy. He has the look but I don't think he'd be in for the long haul that the Indy franchise deserves, so what's the point. So I'd prefer somebody younger like Pratt or Greyston Holt who Disney can commit to a multi-picture deal.

The problem with a darker/younger Indy is that it only works well in the context of seeing him more redeemable later.

If they had made several pre-Raiders/TOD movies in the later 1970s, where Indy was genuinely younger & darker, then it would have probably put a worse taste in our mouths about the whole character even after he gets more redeemable later.

That fact that we only heard about his darker history, and didn't really see it, was part of what made Indy work.

You mean kinda like this guy?

The real question is, will it include nazis? I mean... The time that Indiana Jones was set was pretty amazing, but for a reboot?

What kind of evil would you like Indiana Jones to defeat? And what kind of treasure would you see the new Indy to go for? If I want a reboot, I kinda want to see something in another time period, or at least a bit after the nazis. So it doesn't appear to be a remake, more than a reboot.

Why does it have to be something evil? Certainly an Indiana Jones movie can be fun and exciting story that doesn't involve an evil organization bent on world domination.
