If it looks too good to be true....

Word.

I did not make the connection until you mentioned starfortress. Thanks for the information!

I've seen their stuff. It isn't StarFortress, but you do get what you pay for. It is decent quality but not super accurate.

Yeah, I have been thinking of doing my first official costume... what I was thinking was having some good pieces for display and then the not so accurate, less expensive pieces for SDCC... it was just a thought. I guess if I do a Boba then getting it a little worn at the cons wont do much.

It's not Star Fortress. I purchased an ESB Han shirt from him. It's decent quality, as far as manufacture. I've had it dry cleaned a couple times without problems.

My only two problems with it are that it's a generic size (M) so I need to get it tailored a bit more for me personally, and the fabric isn't accurate for the ESB shirt, IMO. The fabric is better suited for the ANH shirt.

Other than that, totally worth the 40 bucks I paid. I was in a pinch and needed it for Halloween, and he got it to me when he promised. Transaction was smooth, I'd probably buy from him again.

Costumebase! Let's just say all of their Captain Jack Sparrow buckles are about 45% smaller than the actual screen used props!!! They would go great on a miniature Jack Sparrow!

I brought their TIE jumpsuit. Cost $70 US including postage to Australia. Was here is 7 days from payment.

I expected crud but was pleasantly surprised. I have a couple of real flight suit and found the material very similar in thickness and texture.

Very happy.

Costumebase's TIE and X-wing pilot jumpsuits are well-known as [just acceptable] quality with most of the details correct. They fit only people with slim builds though.

Several other Star Wars costumes are known to be sub-par, mostly because they are made of thin, shiny, synthetic fabrics.
The Imp officer costumes are not up to 501st standards. I don't know the current status of them, but I think the black one was once considered acceptable if some details were modified.

I would say that only the outer tunic of the Jedi costumes are of a quality that would be found acceptable. The inner tunic and outer robe are of very thin fabric.
The Rebel Hoth uniform is highly inaccurate.

I concur that one of their best items is the flightsuit/jumpsuit in its various colors, as long as you are slender. Biggest omission on the jumpsuits is that there are no lower pockets on the legs, but these are frequently stuffed into your boots, anyway.

The BEST thing about costumebase, however, is their "or best offer" option. They accepted my offer of nearly 1/3 their normal price when I bought the jumpsuit - and it shipped promptly and was well packaged.

they are hit or miss, but have some gems.

i actually offered about 1/2 for my x wing flight suit, and they took it. $50 can't be beat for the suit and vest. the vest isn't great, but is workable. the suit is awesome.

i've been meaning to pick up one of the TIE suits just to have... a good "off duty" sort of thing for 501st events.

their BSG stuff is mediocre, but seems to keep getting better. i've seen the solo suits and they are worth the money. not the best, but worth the price.

So if I got a Boba flightsuit from ebay for general costumeing and kept a really good Boba flightsuit from one of our friends at TDH for display I would not be in a bad place?

Like I said, I have never done the costume thing before, but thought for one day for a large event like SDCC it might be fun.

their boba flight suit sorta stinks... the shin pockets are on the knees, and the thigh pockets are really flat.

the thigh pockets you could leave. the shin ones you'd have to move, since they'd be under your knee armor.

for the money it doesn't look too bad. if it's like the x wing suit, the material will be pretty good, and overall construction will probably be an 8/10.

Looks like I should just invest in one 'good' jumpsuit... to TDH I go... ;)

Thanks guys.

I've seen this guy's stuff on Ebay in the past and have debated purchasing the TWOK Trek uniform. I know it's not super-accurate by any means, but heck, for a price of $50 - $100 it would work great. All I want to use it for is my ST II Static display.

I've purchased their ANH Solo outfit. The pants were really bad. The shirt and vest were passable. They served me well for what I needed at the time. But I eventually replaced them with CE's Han soft goods. In the end... you get what you pay for.

That has been my experience with everything prop related so far, I agree, soft goods should not be any different.

I was considering one of the Tie suits, does anyone know how the sizes run? If you measure a 40 chest should you get the 38-40/M or 42-44/L?
