I found these pictures a few years ago on either Yahoo or eBay auctions Japan.

This is a replica of the GONG handgun from Masamune Shirow's Appleseed.

I've NEVER seen this particular kit before, or since.

I'm just trying to figure out who made the kit.

Any help appreciated.

I would say that it was a poseidon kit but the grip is a little different and there is another (for lack of a better term) "bar" around the guard handle. The kit is sadly only made for the Japanese market and it's even sold out there. But here's the link anyway http://www.poseidon.co.jp/5F/gong/gong_1.html

Hope this helped :)

I dismissed it as the Poseidon kit right away because of several differences, including the curved magazine, but thanks for the idea!

I put off buying a Poseidon Gong for years. And as the old saying goes... you snooze, you lose. :)

@Bigcow: Thanks! I've been to Polymer's site before, but have never contacted them.

@Birdie: Thanks for the pics! Guess I'll have to keep hunting Yahoo.jp and hope something pops up... eventually...

If anyone has any ideas on the first pictured kit, I'm always interested. Or if you have one for sale. :)

Thanks everyone!

At the bottom of the label it says "Presented by" and then it has some Japanese characters and "GUSH" ... I think.

I've been watching Wargame's site. Those kits have been out of stock for a while now. Again, snooze... lose. :)

I e-mailed them though, on the off chance they may have an idea if they'll be available again.

I'm basically trying to avoid a full on scratch build. Which would probably take me untill the NEXT millenium to finish. :)

It says presented by studioGUSH 'すたじおGUSH' kind of weird since studio is spelled with hiragana and not katakana. A google search turns up some link trails to what appears to be their old page(Garage Party). Or once was anwyay:
www.kaede.sakura.ne.jp/~garepa/

Doesn't look like they do garage kits anymore. I see some links to old pages with referrences to their name and garage kits. Nothing new though.

Looks like some also write the name completely in Japanese as 'すたじおガッシュ' that turns up more hits in google as well, but again most are older links. I only found one listing for すたじおガッシュ on yahoo Japan auctions. None for すたじおGUSH.

But the old studio names at least gives you something to keep an eye out for.

Edit: Here is an ended auction for the kit on yahoo Japan auctions, which isn't dead yet:

More pics of the unassembled kit.
searched for 'すたじおガッシュ ゴング'

The plot sickens...:lol

I believe the illusive Garage Party to be behind the 'never-seen-outside-of-promotional pics' C26a assault rifle kit from GITS.

I gave up on that holy grail and built my own.

Crudski! That's the kit I wanted! Near as I can tell from looking at the auction listing (THANK YOU for that BTW...) it didn't sell.

The seller won't ship internationally. Anyone know somone in Japan who could contact the person to see if it's still available and cross ship for a small comission?

LOL@Birdie: Yeah, Alex (USCMCorps) and myself each contacted them only to receive a "Sorry, you're S.O.L. we're not selling them." :D

Too bad for them really.

Yep, it didn't sell at the 25000 yen asking price.

I know there are proxy servics somehwere out there that do just that sort of thing. But I also know that some of the Japanese sellers don't like dealing with them because they've had problems. So your best bet just might be to find someone here who lives in Japan and could contact the seller to see about purchasing the item.

For kicks you might also try contacting Mandarake to see if they could possibly get the kit for you. They have a limited online presence but they have different types of stores around Japan that cater to different hobby interests.

Otherwise, I totally feel your pain. There are a bunch of old Tsukuda and Musashiya figure kits I'm looking for that never come up on Ebay and regularly are listed on Yahoo Japan auctions.... In the rare event that one of the kits is listed on Ebay it generally costs about 6 to 10 times what it didn't even sell for on the Yahoo Japan listings :cry

Rook, I can put you in contact with a friend of mine who helped me track down some kits from Poseidon. He knows a few people in Japan, and he tells me that Posiedon kits sell on Japans version of the 'black market' every other day. He's been collecting kits for a while, so he knows what an Origional is. Send me a PM if you want.
