I want to interview *YOU* for "Cos-Culture"!!! PLEASE Read!

Yeah, it's looking sort of like American Idol for Cos-play.
I'm not entirely sure they'd be interested in what we're doing, as we're looking to interview all costumers and cos-players to get their stories and an in-depth look at the costuming, what motivates certain costumes and stuff as opposed to a contest for 'the best costume' kind of thing. I'll see about checking into them though, couldn't hurt, after all we're more or less helping each other out doing the other angle of the costuming, bringing attention to it and all that. :)

Check out this recent video by Chloe Dykstra, one of the cosplayers featured on Heroes of Cosplay, talking about some really relevant things to your project, as well as some of the worries people are having about the show prior to its release:
[Self] A humble plea to cosplayers everywhere. : cosplay

Not to get off track and focus on the show, because honestly, we need the exposure, but yep, she touches on some stuff we're going to discuss and cover. I've ran into quite a few costumers and cos-players that outright asked me if we were a part of that show, and they didn't seem to keen on the show. I'll try and get in touch and see what happens, but like I said, I'm not really sure how receptive they'll be to us.
Thanks for the posts, info and suggestion! :)

We're moving along pretty well. I've been talking to an old friend I grew up with back in New York that I've gotten back in touch with after 6 long years, and it turns out that he's HEAVILY into costuming and cos-playing, and has a pretty decent sized group of friends that all meet up at various conventions across North America and setting up interviews for the film, I have a couple of friends in The 501st UK Garrison (SUCH a great bunch!) that are open to interviews, especially seeing as they are a part of several other groups like The Ghostbusters, or Planet Of The Apes, or Resident Evil, etc, etc.
The big thing is, almost everyone that's in The 501st Legion, have other costumes from other franchises and are either part of or actually formed other costuming and cos-playing groups around other franchises. It's pretty neat! After all, that's how I started. Have my Star Wars gear, and now working on Iron Man - promised the wife it's my LAST costume...she doesn't seem to believe me though! lol

I also wanted to post about what happens should we not meet the goal....not even enough to get a single camera. Well, then I will relaunch the campaign, adjust the focus to just North America for this film, adjust the goal accordingly, and work on that. Now to whomever contributes to this current campaign - it WILL be honoured. Your money isn't just magically gone and you get nothing. All perks will be honoured, the ONLY thing that will be different is the timeframe in which the DVDs of the film will be delivered, obviously. That will only be set back by a month or so. I've given us a decent amount of time for each phase of production, so to be honest, I don't see it pushing the film back off schedule all that much if at all - we have a great cushion. But I want to reassure everyone that's supporting us or that is considering supporting us that they absolutely, 100% get what they contributed for. Your support is insanely appreciated, and there's just no way your investment in me and this film will go unrewarded. You will get what you pay for. Period. This film WILL be made. So nobody worry. There isn't a need to.

Thank you all for your support, and I look forward to meeting and interviewing as many of you as possible! This is a great community filled with great people, and the world needs to know it!

Since I'm NOT Spike Lee & I'm NOT worth $40 million, I HAVE to shamelessly bump. ;)
Okay...I admit, I feel really dirty plugging and "networking" and "virtual-social-climbing"...

Getting slow and steady exposure! But we really need contributions, and I've been contacting cos-players and costumers through social media and other contacts to look to set up tentative interviews and the like. We're also still writing more and more, as my crew have come up with some really neat, interesting and entertaining ideas on how to talk about specific topics, even the controversial ones, but sorry! Can't talk about them here! But you guys'll love it!

Thank you for the support!! If you can, please do contribute, get a perk, believe in us! I promise you won't regret it!

Throwing in a bumperino!

We're working hard, not much to update since it's a matter of continuing on what we've been working on. In regards to this campaign, if we don't manage to hit a point to where we can AT LEAST purchase the needed equipment (ie. at LEAST a camera), then the plan is to relaunch the campaign with a smaller scope (North American Cons only), a smaller financial goal ($30-$35k), and a new pitch video to SHOW exactly what the plan is - although it doesn't matter how great the video is, if it's still being filmed with my phone. ANY and ALL contributions to this current campaign will absolutely be honoured, as the timeline is the only thing effected with a relaunch of the campaign.

Many, many people tell me how they really love the idea. How this film is needed with how divided the community is on a number of issues regarding how costumers and cos-players are portrayed, especially now, and I deeply appreciate the support and the sharing, and how I have hundreds of people telling me they'll purchase the DVD when it's finished, but the thing nobody is understanding is, doing the $25 Pre-Order Perk not only guarantees your copy, but it also guarantees the movie gets MADE in he first place.

Now, my scope is still to meet and interview as many costumers and cos-players as humanly possible. I want to go into Europe and meet you guys out there and get you on film. I want to cover NA and meet as many of you as possible and get YOU all on film. I want to tell the stories of every costumer and cos-player I can find while sharing my own story with the community that has brought me so much joy. And right now it's looking like the dream to get to Europe for this film is out of range right now. So covering North America is the start. But if we can't manage to raise $30,000-$35,000 over the next 24 days, or if all we can raise is $4,000 to $10,000 to get the equipment needed, then it's brought back in scope to just the West Coast. It kills me that we're looking at pulling the scope back so drastically because I've spoken to so many amazing costumers and cos-players from all over the globe and I have a real need to tell these stories.

So! Here's hoping we can get to as many of you as possible! Please share the link: Cos-Culture | Indiegogo
And if you can, even if it's $10, contribute so we can get this film made and tell what we want to tell the world about our hobby, our community, our culture.

Thank you for your time and patience while I keep on plugging!
