This has be on the back burner for years, and I only now have mad a new clone belt model. This new model has the 6 front boxes molded in-place with the belt and cast as one solid unit. I like this idea much more than casting the parts separately and attaching. I left the two rear boxes and canister to be attached separately though.

The thing that has held m back for so long was that I needed to fab two new front boxes for this model. There is a right and left slope to the front box. That necessitated building the same thing twice, but mirrored. I admit it: I was simply too lazy to pull out the table saw.

Now that the first one is out of the mold, here is the result

Thanks folks. this is the first upgrade since the first one debut in 2004. I like it so much, the next step is to try and turn them into speaker boxes that will hold 1.25" speakers for the voice system. Yeah, I may troop some day.

Why a one-piece? What material is it?
I am just curious... wouldn't you want a belt to be somewhat flexible?

One piece means one mold, rather than three. My original belt was cast separately and the boxes (also cast inividually) were attached to it. That is 6 boxes that need to line up with each other, and they are attached to a rubber belt. It was too complicated.

This current method allows me to pull one piece out of a mold that has all seven (belt + 6 boxes) pieces line up correctly with no further effort other than cut to size and add a buckle.

Two additional boxes and a rear canister are also attached, but done so after it is trimmed to size and buckle attached.
