Another update. You can see some of the exterior widgets showing up, as well as the basis for the canopy frame here.

I need to think of a way to illuminate that flat-screen.  Hmmmmmm.

A small sheet of EL that runs off a 9V is what I would do. In fact, you could probably illuminate most of the inside using EL.

Here is one place I just looked at recently that has a sample kit which is all you might need - E-Lite

For stuff thats small like interiors I like to cast them clear and then embed an LED somehwere that has the room. I then mask and paint the with solid and clear colors to make it light up... or not ;) That or fiber - I've never been happy with how bright the EL gets... but thats just a personal preference. But you're right that interior is beggin' to be lit up like a Christmas tree ;) Seriously great work there man.

It seems that EL sheets get brighter the smaller thier surface area gets. So tiny rectangles should light up fairly well. But who knows how bright they'll be after you put a gel on them. The problem with an LED in the flatscreen is that you'll get a hot spot. Unless you use a UV LED and put a phosphorescent paint on the monitor...

Well...this project is nearing completion. She is almost done. Around 80 pieces and lots of sweat so far...and still a lot to do, but she's coming along nicely. I hope you all have enjoyed this as much as I have.

So...how does she look? There are still some small details to be added..and the seats for the pilots need to go in...but it's almost there.

The two different engines are because the engines on the 1:1 and the CG are very different. I decided I liked the CG versions better, but wanted to have a plain version option as well for those that are going to try and imitate the 1:1.

Here she is.

Here is a shot of how the cockpit is coming together. The main concole with the thrust handles is a seperate piece so it can be hinged like the original.
