I got screwed on Ebay... help

HereÂ’s the deal I purchased a set of Starship Troopers foam rubber grenades and pouch from a seller on Ebay. I sent payment (via Paypal) and sat back and waited. I tend to live a somewhat busy life and more or less forgot about the purchase. After about 3weeks, I contacted the sellerÂ… with no replyÂ… waited a few more days, emailed him again. This time he said that the item had been sent out and he would check on it. A week or so goes by and I notice that he has received several negative feedbacks in the past couple of weeks. I email him againÂ… no reply. So I give him a negative feedback.

Than out of nowhere today he gives me a negative feedback. I mean WTF?. I pay for an itemÂ… I donÂ’t get it, I donÂ’t hear back from him and heÂ’s got half dozen other negative feedbacks and he screws up my feedback, even though I have done nothing wrong here.

Does anybody know a way to contact Ebay direct to complain about this, or does anybody have any thoughts or experiences with this sort of situation? Who knows, the guy may be a member here on the RPF, if so, please contact me, so we can sort this out.
I know IÂ’m only out $50, but still it just bugs the hell out of me.

HereÂ’s the Ebay auction click here

Please note his feedback and mineÂ….

What a jerk, i really hate it when deals go bad. Sorry for you man.
On E-bay, go to help, type in item not received and it then explains the process for you to follow. With regards to feed back, it can not be removed, the only way of stopping it being a negative is if you and he/she mutually agree to withdraw it as a negative. Sounds like that person is too much of a jerk to do that
Good luck

hey Saxe...hate to tell you this, but another seller has the EXACT same item up as the one you won:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...s_seller_widget

Seems this seller is 'recommended' by the seller that screwed you. Almost seems like its the same guy w/ 2 accounts. ANyways, you grenades are right there...

Good luck w/ this scumbag.

I'd also say that you should leave follow up on both your feedback and his. File w/ ebay AND paypal regardless of the time passed and make note that the exact same item is being sold by another 'related' seller...

I'm sorry this happened to you, brother. The wierd thing is I was watching this auction and almost bid on it. :unsure

Hate to say it but you're SOL. I had an idiot buy a very high dollar item I sold (7500.00 Buy it now - and it was the first time I ever sold on ebay). He used the buy it now but after three and a half weeks he still hadn't payed. Kept giving me excuses why he couldn't so I used ebay's complaint system. ANother three weeks go buy and ebay finally refunds my listing fee and allows me to relist - I should also mention the idiot never responded to any of the ebay dispute emails sent. Finally everything was done so I left him a negative - as 7 other people had done in the 6 weeks since he 'bought' my item. The ahole had the nerve to leave me negative feedback claiming he wanted the item but I never contacted him (except the 10+ emails I sent him, 4 of which he replied to). He called me a liar and a cheat in the feedback. I complained to ebay and even though I had the dispute going and resolved in my favor, they refused to take away his feedback. In my opinion ebay feedback is screwed up.

On a related note, I really hate those sellers who demand I leave them feedback before they will leave me any. I bought and paid, as far as I am concerned that consitutes a finished deal on my end. Once the money is in your hands, then it is your responsibility to leave me feedback. If you don't send to the item and I have to leave negative, you should not be able to retaliate because you suck.

The deal isn't finished until buyer gets his item and is satisfied. That's my opinion anyways - doesn't mean I don't sometimes leave feedback when getting paid, anyways... but still.

At the very least reply to his feedback so you can explain yourself, I've had to do that before.

Yes, but wait until the PayPal and eBay claims have been settled - and write that in the reply if they ruled in your favor.

Why wouldn't I be satisfied if you sent the item I bought in a timely manner and it was exactly as decsribed?

My distaste is with sellers who demand feedback before they will leave feedback for me.

I won't leave negative feedback anymore because I don't want the hassle of having to explain why I am dissatified with the seller only to have retaliatory feedback left because he screwed up. Sure you can followup negative feedback with your side of the story but that does not help when most people don't take the time to read your feedback and see why you have a negative before they cancel your bid.

I had an ebay purchase a few months ago where the seller would not leave me feedback until I left him some. I won the auction and paid with paypal less than 2 hours after the auction ended. Took him 3 weeks to mail the item to me. I sent numerous emails requesting shipping comfirmation and all I got was the runaround and bogus tracking numbers. Finally resorted to the ebay complaint system. Package finally arrived and he sent it regular mail even though I paid for priority with insurance. I asked for a refund of the shipping difference and he refused. Then he emailed me daily demanding I leave feedback. So what do I do? If I leave negative or neutral, I am sure he will retaliate. He had my money in less than two hours. Why can't he leave me feedback first?

Another auction I bid on and I had my bid canceled. I contacted the seller and they said they will not sell to anybody with a negative (yes, a single negative and they won't sell to you). I explained why I got the negative but they refused to allow me to bid.

I have even seem auctions where the seller clearly states in the description he won't accept bids from buyers with a negative, some outrageous positive number to be allowed to bid (like, you can't bid unless you have 150 positives), and the demand to leave fedeback before he does. What gives? Do you want to sell your item or not.

Perhaps I'm biased because I have had so many negative experiences trying to buy (and sell) things on ebay.

You have to take into account that there are rotten buyers as there are rotten sellers. Have heard of buyers leaving neg 3 days after auction end because item hasn't arrived yet or demanding refunds, having deliberately broken the item or leaving neg for no reason at all and other such horror stories. Accept seller's demands or don't bid - he can demand whatever he pleases when selling his item, so if you got a problem with that, don't bid.

There is always the tried and true method - Leave negative feedback on the very last day on the very last hour/minute possible, so their opportunity to retaliate is diminished substantially.

I like the way you think :D

I do not bid on auctions with outrageous demands. If I can't meet the seller's requirements then that is their loss to a potential sale. I take great offense when there are no stipulations in the item description but my bid is canceled after the seller checks the auction and sees a bid from someone with a single negative and doesn't even look at what I had to say in my defense. I am a courteous buyer. I always inform the seller as soon as my package arrives to let them know I got it. If everything went smoothly, I generally leave feedback in a day or two regardless of whether I have received feedback or not.. But I will not be forced into leaving feedback first so the seller will look like the victim if I leave negative feedback. Yes there are bad buyers and bad sellers. There seems to be a great rash of both right now and I think ebay needs to think about some sort of treatment for this ailment. Heck, if I wanted a huge positive feedback rating all I have to do is generate a dozen extra ebay accounts then 'sell' myself a bunch of cheap junk. No money changes hands (except the minor listing fee) and I'm a 'power seller' or 1000+ positive feedback ebay giant. Hurray for me. In my case, with the seller who demanded feedback, he screwed up and sent my package three weeks late with the wrong postage. I was going to leave a neutral, but he demanded positive feedback (his justification was I eventually got what I ordered so he deserves positive feedback). He had the nerve to email my up to several times a day demanding positive feedback or he was going to 'have ebay take care of you for not leaving feedback'. Since when is it mandatory that I must leave feedback? So my experiences have left me with a rather bitter view of the whole feedback system.

Feedback system does suck. Not as bad as it used to when anyone could leave you feedback even if they did not win the item. :(

I don't knuckle under to pressure from sellers to leave feedback so they will leave theirs. If the seller's item met description, was securely packed and shipped timely, he gets feedback. I have probably done 4,000? transactions on ebay. I have like 900 feedbacks, no negatives. I decided from the get go I was looking for two things the item or the money. The rest is a dog and pony show.

That's what I have done twice now, I think. Is it still 90 days maximum you can access auction for feedback - if you have the auction number?

Yes, I see you point, but I think your problem is with stupid sellers and not the feedback system. There is no law that says that you have to leave feedback and seller cannot demand what kind of feedback you place - however, if he hasn't placed his feedback before you do he does have some threatening retaliatory capabilities.

I always try to secure myself in the auction text when I sell something - something like: less than 10, zero feedback & with neg feedback contact first prior to bidding, as I reserve the right to cancel any bids. It is MY item that I'm selling and I want to make sure I don't get screwed over by some half-wit who cannot understand common decency or the rules of a trade.

I don't care if seller leaves feedback before or after I do... I just expect him to be fair and not a complete *******. I have a negative mark in my feedback, so I always write seller of an item I'm interested in whether I am allowed to bid on it - either he says yes or he says no... big deal. With eBay there is always a tomorrow and a possible better deal down the road, so I don't worry all that much whether seller will allow me to bid or not.

Don't get so wound up about it. It's not like it's the end of the world.

Not to rub salt in the wound, but why on earth would you have bid on this seller's stuff anyway? His feedback is full of negs regarding non-delivery. It's no suprise the same thing happened here. I always research a sellers feedback fully before buying.

I am also wary of new sellers selling high ticket items, I usually pass.

The way I read it, seller got those negs in the time between purchase and this post...

Yes, a buyer's worst nightmare. Feedback going several negatives between payment and hoped for delivery.

BTW

BIKERFETT is a new member.

Maybe since he sells the identical item down to the image and lives in the same town, he can shed some light on this situation. Like real soon? Like right after someone PMs him this thread with my post? Which would be before I had to officially PM him and ask...

I got so royally sick of leaving feedback for buyers who never returned the gesture that i always include a message with the packing slip "feedback will always be returned".If they leave me feedback I immediately reciprocate.I have no negatives and have always tried to work to resolve any differences with a buyer without resorting to negative feedback.I have had bad experiences with both buyers and sellers but that's life for you.Win some, lose some.

THis auction was mine the account was not. I sent this item and it never arrived. In the process the person whose account it was got negatives. She sold books on half.com. If you look the negs were from books that did not arrive. I have spoken to Sax and we have straightened this out. I even offered to send him another set of grenades to make of for the ones that did not arrive. He refused and just asked that when I get my next load of starship troopers stuff that I make hime a deal. I agreed. I also told him that it was not I that left the negative but the person whose account it is. I also told him that if he initiates the negative feedback withdrawl that I would make sure that it was agreed upon.

I hope that this helps to clear up this issue as I want to have a good experience on this site and hope to be here for long time to come.

My ebay account is bikerfett and has great 100% positive
