Below are the names that I have seen for these blades. Do note that the ones with a Astrix indicates that this could be a fan named blade and not something actually seen in script or mentioned on screen.

1. UnKnown (I have wondered about this one as it was on Worf's display plaque in his quarters)

2. quv'etlh (name mentioned in the Klingon interactive CD ROM game) This is actually styled off a crescent knife used in martial arts (I recall seeing them ninja magazines in the 80's).

3. Assassins dagger (been used for many aliens). Also seen as a Jem'hadar "Double Knife” from the DS9 episode “TO THE DEATH”.

4. Mekleth

5. tajtIq (Worf and Gowron fought to the death with them in the DS9 Episode "Apocalypse Rising")

6. d'k tahg

7. bet'leH

8. d'k tahg (again)

9. *Some people call this a 'aqleH (Half bat'leth), but it's actually a Jem'hadar axe.

10. Not really a Klingon knife, but may have been used as one. It's been featured in various episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation like “Tapestry” for use by aliens like the Nausicaans.

11. Unknown name *Usually refereed to by fans as "the pizza cutter". This blade sold with a more rougher designed knife similar to #1 at Cristie's for $2400. NOTE: This knife is a simplified version of a Tibetan knife called the Kartika.

If anyone else has any further info, please post them.

I think my head just exploded. The fact that virtually all of these knives have a unique Klingon name tells me that there are some areas of fandom that I have never even scratched the surface...

You are correct Art, there are many layers to Trek and Klingon fandom that many fans have yet to explore. I've been doing Klingon fandom for over 20 years and I'm still finding neat things that I never knew.

Oh, I also edited the post above to add more information.

I suppose "sharp, pointy things" just won't do? Actually, aside from the "biggies" mentioned above – Bat'leth, d'k tahg, etc – you won't find a canon name (ie: mentioned in an episode) for some of these. Unless there was a plot point that needed it to be named, it wasn't mentioned. Sometimes a knife is just a knife.
