Hunter's prey progress thread--~~UPDATE~~--

Hey Kit, I am not sure I understand.....what is the pen for?
I think he means the missing tusks on either side of the "nose" of the bio.

I played around and took care of the rip..... I just had to squeeze really hard on the hole-punch.

ta-dah!!

I'm not sure what was up with that one dread in the bio pic.... I think the ring hooked onto the shoulder armor.

I left off the cannon because I have no way of attaching is as of yet....

and forgive the camo shorts... I don't have the legs or shinguards yet... and the cardboard gaunt is jsut a placeholder...

You can kinda see the dragon head that I tied onto my left arm.... I need to secure it better, 'cause these strings just let it slide everywhere...

and I just love the way the shadowing came out on this one.. purely accidental... I was asking mom to adjust the gauntlet so I could get hte above pic, but she snapped this instead.... I like it:

and Andrew, I again give you major-uber-meg-kudos for helping me out... I will not forget it anytime soon.

Hey dude, it looks pretty good overall, but something you NEED to change is the gauntlets. Invest in a proper set. And also, what you should do is get yourself a neckring to hide the gap between your mask and your skin to make it look a little more natural.

gaunts and neckring are on the list, don't worry.

I have a lot of plans for pimping this bad boy out... and that armor is just temporary until I get either a P1, P2, or AVP set

Hmmm, I would also reposition the dragon head.
If you are going to pimp out your suit man, I would do it ASAP because the Con is coming up.
The gauntlet you have on your right hand can be made to look cool. Have a search around the house for unwanted things like toy cars or tanks, and take them apart. Stick little greeblies onto the cardboard, just to make it look a little more high tech. Just as a temporary job, it should do the trick. Also buy foamies and cut it up into weird predator looking shapes and stick it on there. Then paint it and it will be fine.

if your not going to be able to afford guantlets before you go , you really really need to fix the errrrr eerrrrr cardboard things.

go get some car bodyshop fibreglass in a can ( only a couple of quid here in uk so be the same for you over there ) and smear it all over, work quick as it dries in 5 mins or so, then stick nuts and bolts and wire anything you can find on them on them, to stop them looking like a cardboard box.

you can then paint them silver, this can all be done within a afternoons work.

Maybe something like this will improve your suit and help you save some money for the room share.

Two words plastic cups. Use these as a base to build up your gauntlets. Somthing like a taco bell cup cut in half and hinged should work for your budget. Looks good sofar. Some where I have apattern you can use for a neck seal.

I'll play aroudn with the gaunts sometime today or tomorrow.....

now... anyone have tips on what style of armor I should go with? I like them all....

I'll try to see if I can find some flawed gaunt tops to get my hands on cheap.

now.. who makes the cheapest legs? :) I'm really wanting to go to WWC, but it all depends on how much I have to spend on the rest of the suit....

Most Pred legs I've seen are around the $200-ish range. I've also seen people use Batman thigh muscles and glue them to a pair of pants, then latex the seam lines to blend them in.....then latex over all the pants to below the knee line to make one complete pair of latex Pred legs.

For some reason the batman-type legs never crossed my mind..... goign to have to drop XDFX a line and see what they'll do for me :)

So after all this and only a week and so to go are you making it to WWC or not? You arranged this huge trip it would not be fair to back out!

As for gauntls I agree with O&O, I can also suggest some snaps from walmart and some plastic gutter from lowes you would be surprised what you can do.

Example, I did these for a dude, CHEAP and easy, a little gluing stuff on, a little shaping, a little paint and bam!

Im also going to go out on a limb here and suggest something I know you have been ripped for, get a pair of sweats ( a tight pair), die them and paint them up like you did the body suit, then get a shell net in the walmart iles paint it black and put it over your sweats, then the same plastic gutter and make leg armor, shin armor, use a little elactis from walmart, kinda shape it like you want and I will go back to what O&O said get some foamies, and glue them to your suit in "pred Shapes"

For like $40 you will seriously up grade your costume.

Just a suggestion

I still don't know if I'm going. I'm begging the parents for the cash every time I turn around but we just don't seem to have it.

And before anyoen goes on with the "just get a job," I'm arguing about that with them, too. I am not allowed to get a job unitl I graduate my senior year.

I'm goign to try to pry the cash out of them some way or another......

after letting the bio just rest on the mask for display purposes for 2 or 3 days, I discovered something..... they began to stick to eachother.. removing the bio removed a small area of paint from the mask. the lower mandible towards the back has a small portion that is bck ot it's white basecoat... the crown of the mask is slightly marked as well....

I'm going to have to go with a faceless undermask/bio combo as well as a full-faced mask for most outings....

Now.... I'm wondering if I coudl touch up the damaged area with acrylics or if I have t use the same paint that the original painter used.....

It's driving me crazy knowing that something so cool can damage so easily...

Help. :\

If I'm not making sense, I can try to clarify,
HP

That sucks, could you post a pic for us to see how much damage there is?......Someone will surely have the solution to your problem.
