Humbrol Lacquer Enamel

Hey everyone!
I have a little project coming up and I’d like to try humbrol enamel. I’m not super familiar with all the do’s and don’t’s of different paints

I plan on doing base color with the humbrol and I’d like to do an oil weathering wash. I assume I’ll need to clear before the wash but not sure what clear would work well. And finally I’d like to do a satin clear to seal in the weathering.

Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Definitely do not apply an oil wash directly on an enamel finish. An acrylic clear coat will seal the enamel, Tamiya spray will do.

I wouldn’t spray Tamiya aerosol paint over Humbrol as they are lacquer based and will wrinkle the Humbrol. Tamiya acrylic gloss or Johnson’s klear/future are the best bet. I tend to use mr colour satin varnish as a final top coat.

I've used humbrol enamel for decades, you can use a wash on top but only after giving the base coat enough time to dry.
As long as you are not soaking it or scrubbing the wash on then it should be fine. I've done it many many times.
But the key is let it dry properly. 1 or 2 days. Preferably a warm place.
