HT head custom (update 4/3/08)

I was finally able to get a few hours Friday & Saturday night to start on this . I want to customize HT figure but with some design changes. I decided to resculpt the head and will probably do some resculpting on the body. It may a be a female Pred but it is still up in the air. Anyway, this is what I have so far. What do you guys think?

Man that must of took alot of time to get all that good detail...sweet looking.

But, you're right: it's true that a Female Predator HT style figure would be great!

By the way, Tom, I have three questions to ask about your sculpt:
1 - Why the eyes have this silver colour?
2 - Why have you removed the teeth or haven't you sculpted them with the entire face?
3 - What sort of dreads have you planned to put: soft rubber or bendable ones?

That said, frankly Tom, I'd like to have your skills!

Moloch, the clay I'm using is Super Sculpey "firm" mixed with a bit of the SS pink to make it a litttle softer and sticky. Once all of the detail work is completed I will finish the otehr areas with AVES apoxy clay (self hardening).
Elder-Fab, I might do a few copies but is up in the air. (Gotta figure out the casting process).
The origianl idea was to do a male but I love narins females and always wondered what a counterpart would be like. It is also a bit more of a challenge. I'm gonna try to design her in a way were she looks female but does not have the over sized silicone breast.
1. For the eyes I used ball bearings so that's why they are silver.
2. I find that scuplting the teeth afterwards, specialy when they are exposed as with the predator, is a bit easier and you don't have to worry about messing them up while working on other areas. Also, If I do cast the head, having the teeth and the mandibles separate will make the process easier.
3. I plan to use the dreads that I took of the original HT head. They are the bendable ones from an AVP chopper but I took the little metal rods from inside to make softer.
Here are some pics of the ideas I tossed around. the 1st one is based of Bigguns queen pred (I may use some ideas for the armor but the head is her design and didn't want to copy infringe on her design).
The others I pretty much mine. Maybe you guys can give me your opinion on which one you like best.

Finally, the idea to have a Female Predator, Hot Toys style, in my collection is becoming more attractive! (The idea is attractive, not the Fem Pred, OK? )

I think the first sketch is fu@king awesome, the alien theme is so cool. I always heard of the idea but to see it makes a big difference.

I envy your artistic skills Tom, on paper and now in custom sculpting. I have zero knowledge is both of those areas.

I know this is probably just a hobby for you but I have been racking my brain on how to make a HT female pred and what you have going would be a great start.

The next challenge is to work out the body style... It could be speculated that preds are reptilian, with no need for breasts and the newborn preds could be hatched from eggs. Mabey...

Managed to do a little more work on the head (crest area). Sorry for the lousy pictures but it was with an old cheap camera. Still need to add a little bit more detail and some smoothing but is pretty much there. Unfortunately this weekend is shot but hopefully sometime next week I'll be able to do the mandibles.
