Can anyone help me out with info or point me to a site? I’m looking into making a H.R.Pufnstuf costume and was wondering if anyone knew how to make a ‘foamie” costume like this.

I know someone here was showing a Major McCheese costume here. Was it DCB? Not sure if he got an old suit upgraded or made a new one.

Anyone?

Thanks

David

DCB was the one who made the Myor McCheese costume, but I think he used a costume part that was made for promotions back in the 80's. If I recall, it was made from heavy plastic/fiberglass.
Sorry but I can't help with ideas on making a foamie costume. :(

You need to get a copy of

"The Foam Book" : An Easy Guide to Building Polyfoam Puppets by Donald Devet , Drew Allison

I got my copy from amazon.

It mostly deals with building muppet style puppets but the techniques scale up nicely to wearable character sized costumes.

I made a replica of Pufnstuf a little over 9 years ago (maybe more?). I eventually gave it to a friend who later sold it. Soon thereafter, it showed up on eBay being sold by an unscrupulous dealer who represented it as a "Krofft parade costume". He got just under 5K for it. I contacted him and he refused to change his listing. Even when I said I could provide samples of all the fabrics I had used as well as still having the eye molds I used to make the vac-forms for the eye domes! In fact, I can tell you that the boots were originally gray and were painted with leather paint and they still have the "$3.95" written on the boot sole from the THRIFT STORE I bought them from!

Anyway, if you're still interested, I can give you lots of advice on making a Pufnstuf costume. I also made a Dr. Blinky for my wife to wear!

Wow, I'm actually looking to make some Krofft/McDonaldland costumes! This is great. Thanks for the links! I'm sure I'll be back with questions!

Well, I certainly got distracted away from completing.

Did you get any farther along chewbaccadoll?
