HP OotP Props?

Is there already a thread for OotP specifically? Saw the movie this morning and saw WAY too many cool things that some of the talented people here need to start working on!

Saw it today as well. With quality screen grabs off an HD-DVD (later this year), I can see a ton of paper props. What about all of Umbridge's proclamations? Daily Prophet editions?

The proclaimations were done on a letterpress, so you're talking oodles of work to do really good replications. I'd like to do the wooden case the decrees are in and then maybe pick up a screen-used one. I'm currently working on a version of the Quibbler.

Umbridge's quill would make a nice prop, as would one of the prophecy orbs. I really wish they'd had the DA galleons from the books.

Now Juno, we all know you'll be banging these out in no time! I'd love to be able line my walls with the proclamations. Do we know if the cases for the proclamations were custom or a found item?

I actually will probably not be making much from this film for public consumption.

The cases look a lot like the town crier boxes in my town.

Darn - the DA doesn't use the coins in the movie? That's a shame. :(

Hrmm.. I reckon I oughta finish that MoM logo I was working on sometime, if I can find the files after my move. Is it the same from GoF?

has anyone made any of the death eater masks yet? I think a set of those on the wall (like hunting trophies) would be even cooler looking than the decrees.

Why would you when the chances are some ***** will just try to eBayng you for your efforts?

yeah, that really pisses me off when i see/hear about these incidents. is there a way that they could be reported to ebay? i think if ebay got enough complaints, they could at least make it a pain for some of these reprinters/recasters.

In this case, I won't be making too terribly much because I just didn't love the movie like I did the others.

Kaylee -- one of the things that has changed is the he Ministry logo. It's gone from the last movie's swirled deco style to a stark unserifed M with more of a Soviet propaganda feel to it.

They're going to be bringing out a Lucius Malfoy Death Eater (voice changer) mask! :cool

From the looks of things (the boxed one in the back, NOT the proto shown at the front) it'll need a repaint/weathering, but other than that, it looks good. :)

where did you find the picture of that malfoy death eater mask?...i desperately need more info on that....i need one sooo bad

Here is a site with a couple pics of the new props. I particularly like the "I will not tell lies" parchment and special quill.

Something I mentioned in one of the other HP threads is the proclamation shown in that link is not a hero one... there are quite a few things missing and different. It was more than likely one of the pieces that was to be blown up in the twins departure scene...

Just an fyi...

That or the one you've seen is a fake! ;)

Hehehe oooh you did that just to goad me!! hehehe!!

Luckily my frames of reference are CLEARLY seen and showcased in the film for quite a bit of time... I was actually surprised to see them so prominantly displayed! ;)
Can't wait 'till this comes out on video so I can add some very nice screencaps to the frames!

I loved the use of the Daily Prophet to provide exposition.

The prop that really grabbed my interest was the Dick and Jane DADA book. Brilliant. I also liked Longbottom's plant.

I agree that there are more than 7 OWL props made for production, BTW, Tif. There was a whole hall of them. (Speaking of which, would anyone else find that giant swinging pendulum distracting while taking a standarized test? I know I would.)

Yes, the DP was one of the few highlights as were the Quibbler and the DADA book. YOU KNOW I want one of those, but I don't know if I want to make one! :)
