Hi all,

So throwing a party for my little sister soon (well her 21st b'day hah as she's a HP fanatic) and just thought I'd give you a little look at some of the shops being made. They are being done on flat boards consisting size of 120cm x 80cm each. 6 are being done which are Olivanders, Flourish & Blotts, Florean Fortescue's ice cream parlour, Potage's cauldron shop, Quality Quidditch supplies & Gringotts wizarding bank. Due to time constraints, these won't be full 3d, but will have some depth to them to make look better than the effect of it looking like a painting. If there's time, hoping to try get Weasley shop done as well, but will depend how this weekend goes.

Will keep you updated on progress, and will update the thread with the rest of the house and how it's going to be decorated. Don't want to put too much on here yet, just in case she did actually stumble across the thread lol, as I know she has seen this site a few times before :)

Anyway, please see attached pictures. Not too much to go on yet, but will have much more to put up here on Monday.

I'm not actually making these, please be aware of that. As much as I could paint them myself, unfortunately I don't have the time or skill to create them to how I would have liked... But I have a wonderful lady working on the project for me. However I do have the pleasure of setting the house up in a HP theme. Going to "try" and create the great hall with the floating candle effect, so keep an eye out for the update on it. Here's another pic of Gringotts in progress.

Very soon :p

Still deciding how everything will be set. Going to try create the great hall in one bit which is going to be a fun task.

Little LED sign too which I think looks good.

Wow cool! Looking nicer each time. Gringotts looks very cool with the crooked columns like on the original.

Indeed it is ecl. The time game is on now though as not long until the party. Had a further update to Gringotts, pretty pleased how it has turned out.

Some snaps from the party. Sorry quality isn't that great, was a rush to get everything done before she got home. Also was annoyed because we were meant to have a walkway created to hang the shops and create the diagon alley effect, but the people let us down who were going to make it for us, so we ended up having to use the lounge and decorate that :( Still all in all, it was a great night and the main thing is she really enjoyed it and it brought her to tears (happy ones of course).

i think you still pulled it off well!

those floating candles rock!
holy cow someone spent some time making that sorting hat cake! its awesome.

and please tell me that dude in gold is a human golden snitch lol :lol

Congratulations on a job well done! It looks really awesome, and it paid off. I really like the Monster books on display :D

Yeah two girls were golden snitches lol. Was quite a good idea actually. :)

The floating candles were an absolute nightmare trying to put up. Trying to tie invisible wire around poles isn't an easy job.

Will get a few more pictures up at some stage once gathered them all together, but just wanted to show how it went.

We pretty much had 6 hours to get it all ready between 4 of us, so was really pleased that we managed to pull it off and also she had no idea at all.
