i was watching a few thread and some have a lot of model kit on them.have you ever calculate the amount of money you have put on your models?

I don't want to know. I do know the most I've ever spent to purchase a single model was $200 (shipped) for Fine Molds' 1/72 scale Millennium Falcon, but I have several resin kits that came close to that. I haven't done an inventory so I don't know the exact count, but it's safe to say I have more than 500 kits in my "collection" waiting to be built.

There are numbers in life you never want to know, and this is one of those numbers. :lol

The most I've spent on a single kit was 700 euros. It was a big wooden ship - HMS Victory -- and I ended up dropping another 300 in some material replacement, upgrades and such.
Most I've spent on a single visit to a hobby shop: 1,400 Euros (1 wooden ship Frigate Diana & 32 different plastic kits for a star destroyer build)

Recently, I had to set up my new workshop with whatever I was going to need. I already had a vast collection of consumables and tooling, but there were still things I needed. Just in styrene I've spent over 600 euros (have almost all of the evergreen catalog from 100-297) and another 400 euros in silicon, resins, clear resin, body filler, epoxies, some new tools... OH and let's not forget the 400 euros for a Lexmark color laser printer and another 150 euros for a cutter, laminator, several packs of copper sheets and a few packs of 200#, 220#, 250# card stock.... Still gotta drop a couple grand to complete my workshop, but it's well worth it. Fun times.. :lol

Would love to see it...

Most I have ever spent personally was the 66" CR Nautilus - $1,600 or so?

(still waiting for the Salon so I can build it!!)

Most that's been spent to build something in my shop? Blade Runner blimp cost thousands.... and I'm still working on them

There are two questions that should never be asked:

"How much did/will it cost?"
well, don't ask 'will', that could be discouraging, but the 'did' means your model is worth at least that much..

"Where are you going to put it when it's built?"
now this could be a problem.. :)

Just do it, and then worry about it afterwards! :lol

at this point..
I have spent 350 on my nx-01, and I have barely started building it, still have at least 200-300 to spend on it,
meanwhile I keep coming up with new ideas to incorporate into the model, which adds to the cost.
... I am committed to building this thing as best as it could be, otherwise its a waste of money.
IOW I cant use money as an excuse to stop giving it 110% now.
(Its gonna be AWSOME!)

This has been a topic in my home as of late.

Since getting my 3 1/350 TOS E's, I have (according to Quicken) spent over $3,500.00 on supplies and tools. Including building an (almost finished) paint booth.

There are a couple of other models in that total as well (J2, B9).

My girlfriend keeps telling people that it will be the most expensive model (The E) ever built.

She doesn't understand that I am not just building A model. I am also (re)building an environment for future builds.

Having not built in over twenty years, it take a bit to gather it all up again.
