How many live in a city that runs old movies?

I live in Miami, and I know that certain cities have special theaters that run old films (New York and LA come to mind).
How come more cities don't employ this entertainment venue?
Occasionally Miami has special events where they have "movies at the park" where they show old films outdoors, but nothing consistent.
Also, about 8 years ago an old theater in Miami was having a one night event showing the original King Kong on the big screen...Unfortunately i had to go to San Diego for a wedding.

Is there just not enough money to keep something like that going, or is no one really interested?

At Universal in Orlando this week they have 'Psycho' and some other old movies running. Geared around Halloween though. From time to time, smaller independant cinemas here in the UK do show classics like 'Jaws', 'Halloween', 'Star Wars' and so on. They are usually small scale, unique events.

They play old movies (black and white films, but I never noticed what they actually were beyond that) in the park on the side of a museum, in St. Pete.
