How do you like your lightsabers?? Weathered or immaculate

Just looking through my lightsabers today and noticed I have a tendency to prefer mine weathered. I've always been of the opinion that in they should look used however I have a few that are in pristine condition.

How do you prefer yours?

This is a very interesting question, and one that I have been thinking about recently.

All of us enjoy props and other collectibles from movies for various reasons. Some just want to "hold that thing in their hands," others spend hours, days and weeks meticulously researching a particular item so that they can create the ultimate screen accurate version.

I think this is very much a "to each his own" sort of thing. I have certain props that I want to create that I certainly want to weather and make it look like a screen accurate version. Others, I want to look like I just bought it right from the weapons shop at Mos Eisley.

So, to directly answer your question. I want my lightsabers to look brand-new, my DL-44 to look beat up all to hell, and my phaser to look like Scotty just handed it to me.

BLEEP!

For me, it is more often not about how the actual prop was made but rather about a representation of the in-universe item from the movie. I want the item in the state that comes across on screen, or rather: the state it would have been in right after it got off screen.

I imagine most Jedi's lightsabers to be in a state of being well-used but well taken care of. That means some weathering, but not an excessive amount.

I think it's a matter of what we see on screen as others have said. The Prequel sabers are all shiny and factory new looking, but the Original movies everything is weathered. I weather some stuff, but it's kind of a case by case thing.

I always prefer whatever is screen accurate unless I really really don't like some aspect of how the prop looks. Like on my V2. I hate how dinged up the emitter is on the real one so I leave it idealized on my mine.

For those of us who are new to this... V2?

Okay, I'm with you. I'm trying to catch up on all the abbreviations everybody uses! :)

I've done enough research to know that the on-screen lightsabers varied from film to film, and sometimes between sceens within films. That's the world of props , folks!

I'm assuming that V2 stands for "Version 2?"

I like them all (except the Sequels). I think people categorize lightsabers at OT or Prequel, but I would guess there were Jedi in the Prequel era that had weathered and beaten up lightsabers that were in the field for extended periods and not sitting around the temple.
