How do I make fake water in a glass?

So I'm putting together a pretty good James Bond display and I wanted to add a martini glass, but I want it full with an olive in the bottom. Isn't there some sort of liquid that I can pour in (with a real live olive) there and when it solidifies (hard) it looks like water? (or vodka :D)

I did that for bender with plain old Michaels "castn' craft" clear resin and a real olive. Worked pretty well really.

np - I'll try to find a picture - none seem to be online right now...

that stuff is smelly BTW and takes a long time to cure. On the flip side- it's cheap.

I highly recommend you stay clear of the castn' craft crap... It's has a temper and in many cases never dries right...

Go to a hobby store and ask about model railroad water... There are some simply pour and it dries options or there are some low melt pellets...

Or go with a higher grade resin then castn' craft... I don't have the name off hand but there is a clear resin I picked up, it TOTALLY sucks for molding but is the best of the best for water effects that are poured outside a mold... It's used by taxidermist... I'll get the name tomorrow...

Does that stuff dry hard? I have a couple of the little martini glasses used on Team America:

Obviously not a real olive... But if you touch the surface of the drink, it feels kind of like jello. I could pick it out of the glass with minimal effort if I wanted to. The mimosa feels the same. What do they use for stuff like this?

The stuff I'm recommending dries hard... Castn' Craft usually leaves a sticky surface...

Here is the stuff I recommend...

Polytranspar Artificial Water

Like I said you can't cast in silicone with this stuff it pulls away from the mold and leaves a horrible surface... But for a open air project like filling a glass the results will be GREAT!

What do they use for stuff like this?

As for the soft stuff probably the same stuff they use for clear fancy candles or kids underwater scene sets... It's jello like...

I have an easy tec. that I used...ten minute expoxy....I get about two tubes, squirt them in the glass...then mix....within the next few seconds place your olive in with a toothpic....viola. Did this with a Vesper drink display and a lemon peel...

Try Envirotex. It's a two-part epoxy designed for laying thick gloss layers on bars, homemade clocks, etc. I use it for water in dioramas all the time. It sets up slowly and comes in a variety of sizes. Try Michael's A&C for it. The smell is not too bad either. Be sure and mix as directed and you should be OK.

Great suggestions - I have always wanted to find a good way to do this in a large glass tubes for various Alien displays.:thumbsup

here's bender with said Martini.

No sticky surface on this one, but it took a week to cure.

I also tinted it green obviously...
