How big was Brisco's rod?

I am finally getting around to making these things, and frankly I am a little stumped at the size of this thing.

I have the endcap cast off a screen used, so I know the diameter, but the overall length is confusing me.

Any chance someone here has a lead on the hero piece? Feel free to email me if you don't want to post. It's in the profile.

If it makes ya feel better, I almost had a secondary thread titled "How big was Pete's Piece?" or "How long was Brisco's Barrel?" earlier this week :)

Got some help with the answer though, so no need for those threads :lol

Pete's momma touched Pete's piece once...JUST once... Otherwise, NOBODY touches Pete's piece!

A GREAT series....two of my favorite collection pieces are both originals from BCJr.:

They are probably more impressive to those that're familiar w/ the show...:)

Man. I'd love to get my hands on that piece (sorry, Pete!)... :)

Only Brisco items I have are a bunch of the original advertising materials - plus I have the movie poster, which I've had signed by Bruce Campbell, Julius Carry, and Carlton Cuse... that's hanging in my office at work... :thumbsup

I check ebay regularly for that poster. I'm damn well going to get a hold of one someday...:)

While we are at it, anyone know what kind of double barrel Lord Bowler carries? I loved that gun when I first saw it, and the brass shotgun shell casings sold me on wanting to replicate it.

Wow, now that’s neat! Can’t help with prop details but I do have some great production memories of this show. At Dream Quest Images I shot much of the animation for the glowing “electrical” effects on the orb rods seen in a couple (several?) episodes.

Classic effects before CG. A roto artist would first track the rod on registration-punched bond. The animators would then create hard-edge effects in black ink on paper. After that, the drawings were shot 1:1 onto hi-con film; the film would then be registered in place on a cell. I would then cell-flop them on a motion control Oxberry down-shooter.

The color, brightness and soft edges were created on the Oxberry with multiple passes and filtration. These animation elements would later be comp’d with the original footage by the Optical department. Took forever! I suppose a few of those effects animation cells would be collectable now, all of course went into the dumpster!

I thought it'd be only Dixie who'd know, but anyway :lol

Glad to see other people remember and love this show. Where'd the Brisco rocket come from gjustis?

Keep us posted hydin; I'd love to see the finished product.

Be seeing you,

awe, i loved this show!

hey, anyone have any shots of his pistol?
basically a blued 4 5/8" barrel colt single action army, but it had ivory grips.... anyone remember if they were carved etc?

They were carved, I think it was a dragon or something? Unfortunately I can find any images clear enough on the DVD of the pilot to screencap it.

I did remember that Brisco County, Snr. referred to it as "just a Peacemaker with a pretty handle", and that the handle was carved by a Chinese friend.

Be seeing you,

Magnus Darcrider
